SPARKS, Nev. (AP) - A 12-year-old Nevada boy who went on a deadly shooting rampage at his school nearly seven months ago had been teased by his classmates and was taking a prescription antidepressant, police said Tuesday.
Seventh-grader Jose Reyes opened fire Oct. 21 at Sparks Middle School, killing a teacher and wounding two classmates before committing suicide.
Sparks Police Chief Brian Allen said at a news conference Tuesday that Reyes had told a psychotherapist that other students made fun of him and called him names.
Allen said an investigation into the shootings found signs that classmates did mistreat Reyes, but there wasn't enough evidence to merit charges.

According to a report on the investigation's findings, three days before the shooting, Reyes' father took him to a psychotherapist, who said the boy showed signs of a depressive disorder. Reyes had an antidepressant in his system at the time of his death.

The common denominator in these is the drugs.
Lock up these violent little spawns. Oh and treat the mentally ill students as well.
My husband has a theory. He says all these shooters are on antidepressants.
He feels those are what are causing the instability, the drugs themselves.
It would seem that anti-depressants are involved in the majority of recent mass shootings.
Off hand, I can’t think of a single one who wasn’t on some sort of medication.
But, it’s GOT to be the guns fault.
“was taking a prescription antidepressant,”
Is anyone in the scientific community going to look into this as a cause for violent behavior or are they too busy whining about glo-bull warming?
Anti-depressants used alone by a bi-polar may cause heightened psychosis. Is a three-day load enough to trigger? I’m curious as to the family mental health history of these children. If the father took his child to a psychoanalyst, it could be assumed there were strong underlying issues far beyond schoolyard teasing and beyond the scope of a psychologist.
In an essay appearing March 17 [2007] in The Lancet, Franco Benazzi, MD, PhD, writes about a common but poorly recognized form of bipolar disorder, called bipolar disorder II.
Because the disorder is so often misdiagnosed, patients are often wrongly treated with antidepressants alone, which can make the problem worse, the professor of psychiatry tells WebMD.

Antidepressants are sometimes used to treat symptoms of depression in bipolar disorder. Fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), or sertraline (Zoloft) are a few that are used. However, people with bipolar disorder should not take an antidepressant on its own. Doing so can cause the person to rapidly switch from depression to mania, which can be dangerous.9

It is dangerous to give antidepressants alone in bipolar disorder, because they can trigger an increase in cycling or cause the person’s mood to “overshoot” and switch from depression to hypomania.

“Lock up these...”
Lock up these psychiatrists who prescribe these drugs. They are in reality the killers.
And the teachers who ‘demand’ these drugs for their students are complicit.
The teachers want all students to be ‘docile’ because most teachers can’t teach.
Wow! Just imagine what damage Rudolph could have caused had it bothered him!
“Lock up these psychiatrists who prescribe these drugs. They are in reality the killers.”
Yeah, blame those who want to help these psycho kids. Their psychotic behavior might be cute whe they are 2, but they become potential killers by 13. Lock em up!
NO BULLYING!
The kid said what???
Don't enforce policy, drug the victim!
Another antidepressed kid on a rampage...
Many suicides wait until something positive happens, when they feel they have a chance to 'do the job right',
...so are the antidepressants precipitating a situation where the kids feel good enough that they think they can successfully carry out fantasies of retribution?
...Without fear of the consequences?
The drugs seem to be the common denominator in these incidents.
My daughter has a classmate who was on ADD meds. His mom took him off those and put him on Prozac. We are talking a 9 year old. He has nervous habits like pulling out his eyebrows and similar. Since taking the Prozac, he started talking to ants and inanimate objects. I am sure there are children who are going to make fun of these things. Will that one day trigger a psychotic rampage? I don’t know what the boy was like two years ago or three years ago when he would have been started on the zombie meds. But zombie meds make children have eating issues. The chemical changes from the drugs and lack of nutrition have to have an effect. It is really a problem when half of each class is taking these meds.
Yeh, yeh...Drugs solve everything! Hope you enjoy yours...
Tom Cruise, is that you?
Yeah, for psychotic children running around killing people, it is either prescription drugs or it is putting down.
The run around killing people ONLY when they are on YOUR meds...
Look at it this way: the psychos are no longer locked up, so they are at large in society. And then they act up, hence the prescription drugs. Why is it so hard to comprehend?
