Just got back from buying groceries. Each month the same groceries cost me more and now I’m starting to find the shelves cleaned of some of my favourite things.

There are exceptions like SPAM has gone from $2.50 down to $2.38 a can. The selection has dwindled down to the basic varieties though.

I found my favourite brand of refried beans w/jalapenos had increased to .99 per can and I found only two cans available, both bent. They used to be .69 per can.

Canned vegetables have increased about 10 percent recently with some decreased in volume from 15 oz to 14 oz.

My favorite cheese crackers have remained around $2.50 per pkg. but the volume has been decreased twice in the last few months. Out of stock quite a bit lately too.

I am thankful I can still buy most things but if prices or availability change, I could be forced to use some of my emergency SHTF rations sooner than expected.

I try to keep a 90 day food supply on hand in case somebody pulls the plug. After that it beans, rice, and who knows what else is left over in my SHTF inventory. Planning beyond 90 days is iffy for me and I’ll probably be gone by then if conditions have not stabilized.

I have been buying from Walmart on line. Then I can compare their prices to the local grocery stores and make selections. The boxes are delivered right to the door for free. Green beans have been hard to buy lately. They keep running out. Also, asparagus cans are too soft to ship well.
