VANCOUVER -- A local woman learned that the Canadian Blood Services slogan — “It’s in you to give” — isn’t always true after a clinic would not let her donate blood because she is transgender.
Clayre Sessoms said she gives blood regularly — even since disclosing her transgender status.
During her latest attempt on Wednesday, she said that she was turned away because staff at a downtown Vancouver clinic — where she’s donated before — said they don’t have a policy regarding transgender people.
“There’s just like the process and forms that we have to go through just because it’s not in our criteria,” said a staff member Sessoms identified as “Jennifer” in an audio recording posted to her blog.
Sessoms said she was happy to answer any pertinent medical questions, but didn’t understand why staff asked her whether or not she had the surgery to complete her transition.
She said the blood donor policy on five-year deferral related to gay sex did not apply to her — “I’m a happily married lesbian” — nor did any of the travel restrictions. She said her preliminary hemoglobin test, a prerequisite for donating, showed adequate levels.
In her blog’s audio recording, clinic staff confirmed that the hormones she is taking as part of her transition were not the issue.
“So you’re deferring me because I’m transgender?” Sessoms said on the recording.
“Because we have to get a special form,” said the staffer identified as “Jennifer.”
A representative of Canadian Blood Services said they could not speak about specific donors due to privacy issues.
"I felt very hurt, it's just disgusting," Sessoms said, adding she is contemplating filing a complaint with the BC Human Rights Tribunal.

well you have to understand the mindset of a gay. They feel special since they’re ‘different’ and so they must be treated as a special person by everyone or they get offended. They need psychologists as much for mental issues as to reinforce to themselves they are so special they have their own person to talk to, a person entirely focused on them. Trannys imagine themselves as Marlena Dietrich or Betty Davis, heros against the oppressive men (who they secretly lust after), and stars in their own minds, and how dare the rest of us not see it. They are experts in cattiness and personal relationships’ gotcha moments, a tendency to tear down those around them thereby elevating themselves, hence the need to ‘secretly’ tape every transaction in their lives so as to weaponize words later. Their audacity, like their narcissism, knows no bounds.

There are a number of groups that are not allowed to give blood because they are considered “high risk” for HIV and other STD’s. Homosexuals (incl. trans) are on the list as are swingers, open marriage types, etc. It is to prevent the blood supply from being tainted.
I doubt this person ever gave as a trany before, if it gave blood it came in dressed in “gender appropriate” clothes.
Gay blood donors bring back the subterfuge, and the sabotage, that was openly admitted, by the homosexuals in the Los Angeles BASIN, in 1984. The homosexuals had admitted to lying on the Red Cross form, when they went to the L.A. Basin blood banks to donate blood, whether they were AIDS carriers or affected, and just stated “no”.
Perhaps the same scientists have decided that the blood of such perverts might also be tainted.
Have you recently travelled to Northern Anustan? If so you are barred from donating for 5 years.
Yes,a few times.Every year or so my doctor insists on me taking a short trip there.I try to convince her that I don't want to go but she always gets her way.
