WASHINGTON - Indiana Gov. Mike Pence says President Barack Obama's health care law must be repealed but says fellow conservatives need to offer alternatives to the president's policies.

Pence unveils Healthy Indiana Plan expansion
Gov. Pence drew a line in the medical sand by refusing to expand Medicaid. Thursday he bridged that political chasm by announcing he wants to expand the HIP plan by 350,000.
It includes what the governor calls the first-of-its-kind Premium Assistance plan called HIP Link which helps employed low-income Hoosiers access employer health coverage and two Health Savings Account Plans; HIP Plus where enrollees pay a monthly premium anywhere from $3 to $25 a month for enhanced coverage; or HIP Basic which includes a co-pay for families living below 100% of the federal poverty level. That would mean a family of four living on $24,000 a year or less.

How the plans compare:
President Barack Obama’s health reform law called for expanding traditional Medicaid coverage to people below a certain income. The government would cover 90-100 percent of the costs.
Under Pence’s plan, the first tier would receive very limited coverage at little or no cost. A higher level would include dental and vision coverage and would require the person covered to pay some money.
Repubes have already sounded the surrender bell. No other alternative needs laid out. The majority of TAX PAYING Americans were satisfied with their health care before this unconstitutional law was passed.
What Pence is forgetting to mention, is that the taxpayers pick up the tab in his “conservative” version of socialized healthcare.
How does that magic work. Coverage, be it limited or not still costs something - and if past examples are any guide, 'limited' gov't coverage of a good or service ALWAYS gets expanded.
I would like to see Medicare, Medicaid, and VA benefits block-granted to the states for a limited period of time, so when the economy improves and Obamacare is repealed, states would solely be responsible for healthcare for the destitute and seniors (The federal government can partner with states on VA benefits and continue to block-grant the money). That means states would be held more accountable and costs would drastically decrease because they can’t print money and they can always partner with private health insurers for innovations. There should also be a $3,000 health-care tax credit for everyone to deduct their premiums, co-pays, and deductibles.
