Exactly; personal survival instead of collective patriotism.
It is happening about ten years later than I expected and hoped, but it is happening.
This gelling among Millennials is a collective of sorts; not in the kum-bay-yah sense; but more in the sense of: "let's follow these three percent who have their heads on straight, or we will all perish."
It is about three percent of each generation that sets the pace, and leads (for better or worse) the rest of the generational trends. In a Crisis Era, the Hero generation will set the direction of the nation for the next 80 to 100 years if they succeed, or possibly take the first steps into a thousand years of darkness, a New Dark Age, if they fail.
You cannot surrender, and you must not fail.
You’ll notice that a lot of younger adults are a lot less tolerant about stuff like:
Murder (a lot of youngsters are pro-death penalty in a lot of cases)
Kids out of wedlock (exasperation with the stupidity of not using protection)
There are a lot of morons, but the young are in fact a lot more realistic about so many things.
