Just had a friend report an earthquake in Cumberland, VA.

Any FReepers feel it, too?

I signed on to see if there was any information on this.

I’m in central Virginia as well——between Lynchburg and Appomattox. I was sitting on the floor and I felt it....it was very brief, thankfully.

From my friend:

“It was a loud rumble and the house was shaking a bit. I felt it while laying in bed. At first it sounded and felt like An unbalanced washing machine spinning but much louder and harder shaking.”

We are used to the quakes here in SoCal..3.2 really isn’t anything special here but if your not used to it then it will come as quite the surprise

Moo dropped a snack in the White House which triggered the earthquake along fault line running through VA.

Yeah, that’s what I’ve heard.

Personally, I’ve never experienced one. Where I live we don’t get ‘em. Just tornadoes, hailstorms, blizzards and floods. lol...

Central VA had a quake 4 years ago of something like 5 and it did millions in damage (including cracking the Washington Monument, and the National Cathedral in DC) The Washington Monument only now reopened a couple weeks ago, after extensive, top-down repairs....

The East hardly ever gets quakes and we’re not prepared for them—so what would be ordinary in CA, is very damaging here.
