Do you lack a telescope, but have a burning desire to look for asteroids near Earth? No problem! NASA and the Slooh telescope network will soon have you covered, as the two entities have signed a new agreement allowing citizen scientists to look at these objects using Slooh.
This is all related to NASAs Asteroid Grand Challenge (which includes the agencys desire to capture and redirect an asteroid for further study.) bump, turn it into another moon...
This is a little odd. Usually professional astronomers have time to carefully examine already discovered objects, but the amateurs without constraints of shared telescope time, budgets, papers to write and professorial duties find many new objects like comets because they have time to just look around.
Maybe the professionals think they have to protect their jobs. Like a union.
