Patriotism - in Norway
News from Norway ^ | Mike

This "rap" music video captures the enthusiasm and energy of young children performing in honor of Constitution Day in Norway - 200th anniversary was May 17.

Sorry - I don't have a translation...

There was a sizable celebration in the Ballard district of Seattle where many Norwegians settled long ago.

Maybe there are celebrations like this in the US... for the 4th of July? I wish.

What I found fascinating - on Facebook pages of my many relatives in Norway were dozens and dozens of greetings from friends, often saying "Congratulations on the Day" or "Celebrate the Day"

I have been watching a show called Lillihammer on Netflix that is set in Norway. In one episode, the town was celebrating Norway Day.

I thought to myself, there is a people proud of their roots. Reminded me of the US golden days of the thirties, forties, fifties and sixties, before the leftists ruined everything. When the minority didn’t tyrannize the majority.

Socialists hate patriotism, nationalism, national culture, history and traditions. For them, they are evils to be destroyed, whose only value is if they can exploit it to political ends.

This is the best of all reasons to be patriotic, because it is “in the face” of socialists.

Lillyhammer - on Netflix is very very funny.
I was in that town with my mom and dad about 18 year ago.
Right after the Olympics.

What an interesting plot idea.
And well executed - lots of great scenes.

And if you want to see a very strange and interesting film from Norway - check out Headhunters (the job finder type). Lots of twists in the plot. The lead actress had never been in a movie before and is now being considered for a 007 movie.

Maybe it is easier to keep patriotism and pride of country going in a country with a small population. And their genetic roots are in self-sufficiency in a challenging climate. That and raiding Ireland for red haired maidens!

I’ll have to check that out!
Live about 120 miles north of Ballard in BC.

Here is a web page about the Ballard Celebration.
Celebrated since 1889!

My relatives in Norway were shocked to see this!

Should be fun, and I hunted heads a looong time ago.

I think the key is tribal. People who share a commonality. The states had commonality between groups. That is now lost.
