A Jew is a descendant of Jacob. Ishmael and Esau were also descendants of Abraham and Isaac, and neither they nor their progeny were Jews.
wow, this reminds me of what the pope is dealing with. If you want to get technical you can go all the way back to Adam. My point being they split off and formed a separate family group.
