Besides playing "Taking Chance," I also play an episode of China Beach called "How to Stay Alive in Vietnam, Pt.1."

***SPOILER***

It's about one of the regular cast members, a medic, getting killed because of an idiot journalist's screw-up.

I'm grateful that I'll be able to play it this year on DVD instead of VHS (they just started releasing the show on DVD not that long ago).

I agree. I highly recommend this film. It is very moving and very respectful of the subject matter, there is no lefty anti-war political message and Kevin Bacon does an excellent job as Lt. Col. Michael Strobl.

Here is a short video on the making of:

And an interview with the real life Lt. Col. Michael Strobl

If you have an Amazon Prime account, it is on their unlimited streaming.

For those who won’t be able to view the film, above is a link to the short story, that, I believe, inspired the film.

God bless those who have fallen, so that we may stand free.

It’s such an extraordinary film that I bought the DVD.

I’ve watched this movie every year since I found it and tear up every time.

It’s a great reminder of both the sacrifice of our soldiers and the love of the American people.

It is a must see.

Yes that is the story; the true story that inspired the movie and the script follows it just about word for word. Including the part where the flight attendant gives Lt. Col. Michael Strobl her crucifix pin, saying “I want you to have this” and near then end when he gives it to Chance’s mother and she clutches it to her heart. (sniff)

A well written piece. As good as the film was, I am a sucker for the written word, every time :)

I just think that movie is Great and the image that it showed of the respect given by the American People was outstanding.

The One image I found Disgusting was the Image of the T.S.A. clown forcing the Colonel to strip out of his uniform jacket.I felt like if I were in the Colonels position I would have beat the hell out of that T.S.A. Clown.

It just shows the kind of idiots the government hired to provide security at our Airport’s.
