A 99-year-old Maine woman is celebrating her graduation from college 75 years after a $5 fee kept her from getting her diploma on time.

I think I have heard my parents say a lot of people were working for a dollar a day back then.

By now her outstanding fee is probably up to, like, $10,000.00.
This could go into her permanent record.

I know here the factories paid around .50/hr which was a pretty good wage. I can see down South making that as it was alot worse than up here.

Upon check-out, my university hit the grads with a $54.00 “diploma” fee. I paid it with rolled up change.

I worked in a bank in Maine. They were the least flexible bastards I ever had to tame. This does not surprise me at all.

Her children will have to pay the $10,000,000; they will have liens put on their homes.

It was really all the money I had left. I ended up borrowing $60 for gas and tolls to get home.
