Lake Placid is actually a very rational suggestion. Just about all of the infrastructure is in place there.
I was in Lake Placid a few years ago. There was actually talk of Lake Placid and Montreal (they’re about two hours apart) co-hosting the games. Lake Placid has the facilities to support outdoor events (ski jumping, downhill etc.) and Montreal the indoor events (figure skating, hockey). First Olympics hosted by two countries. I thought, interesting idea, quite creative.
