‘Edge of Tomorrow’ Reviews: Tom Cruise Kills It

“Edge of Tomorrow” isn't expected to be the box office smash its $178 million budget suggests Warner Bros. hoped it would be, but at least audiences can expect one of the best big-budget movies in theaters this summer.

Critics love Tom Cruise's latest action film, which blends science fiction elements with a premise borrowed from classic Bill Murray comedy “Groundhog Day.” Like Murray, Cruise plays a man who is forced to “Live. Die. Repeat” for what must feel like an eternity, except instead of picking up women and causing trouble in a sleepy Pennsylvania town most famous for a rodent, Cruise must team up with a female war hero (Emily Blunt) to figure out how to stop an alien race from wiping out humanity.

I don’t like Tom Cruise. When he’s on screen, the cameras make a point of making sure you only notice him and nothing else.

Already done - Rod Serling.

Never mind; color film and a big-name star are everything these days.

I’ve decided to boycott all his movies because, frankly, he’s nuts.

Kills it good kills it, or kills it bad kills it?

$178 million? How much of that went to a few actors?

That’s crazy. I probably won’t see it in my lifetime, although it doesn’t look all that bad in the trailer.

Tom Cruise plays Master Chief? Die, spawn, fight, die, spawn, repeat until win.

At least there is a modicum of originality here, namely the aliens do the same type of thing.

Are you going to see this? I’ve kinda soured on Tom Cruise. He’s just weird.

I am looking forward to “Jersey Boys”. I love Frankie Valli (seem him twice) and the Four Seasons. Clint directed.

Does anyone else feel like I do that special effects killed movies? Special effects just suck the life out of a great plot or story line.

I’ll oppose the majority here and say that I think this movie is going to be awesome. Yeah, it’s Ground Hog Day and a bunch of other movies combined, but who doesn’t like some good action? I plan on seeing it when it comes out over here, which will be Friday.

Well that would be the directors.......... direction wouldn’t it? Too many overblown egos all over the movie spectrum. It takes something really special for me to not only spend my very tight dollars, but to tolerate the rude buffoons that seem to think the theatre is their damn living room.

Where women are concerned, "rich" trumps all three.

Plus four, five, six, and seven.
