When I hear this song, which is known as the Shrekallulia, played at mass, I can't help but marvel at the stupidity of the music director. Not only is it not a religious song, it's a mournful song, and the Hallelujah is supposed to be a rejoicing. I can just see the dolts thinking, du-uh, I like this song, and it has the word hallelujah, so I'm going to use it for the Hallelujah. Uh huh. Tell me about the rabbits, George.
Yeah. I think a lot of people just listen to the first verse and think “Oh, it’s a religious song,” and don’t listen to the rest of it.
