I wish them both well in the next life, but I think they have pretty well screwed this one up.

Jane Fonda was always annoyed that decent Americans continued to hold her treason against her, even weeks after she came back from her beach vacation with her communist friends, not to mention continuing to mentioning it years and even decades later. When your treason is national news (and thanks to Obama taking a victory lap around the Rose Garden celebrating his brilliant trade of one junior deserter for five senior terrorists, Bergdahl's case is as noticeable as Hanoi Jane's), it's hard to live that down.

I sing in 11 languages, including Hebrew, Russian, Ukrainian, French, Italian, German, and Yiddish. I can recite many passages of the Bible from memory in Hebrew. But I refuse to even listen to the bismallah because I have such a knack for languages that it might go into my mind and then I will NEVER be able to get rid of it.

Most people, though, have to consciously study a sentence in a foreign language in order for it to flow fluidly from the tongue.

That goes for the “lyin’ king” as well when he flawlessly recited “the sweetest sound on earth”.

(Bleaaacchhh!!!!!)

Did I hear right that he offered to switch places with his son?

It is risky second-guessing what steps a father will take in order to save his son from danger.

It would be a lot clearer if now that the son has reportedly confirmed he was tortured, dad would roundly and convincingly condemn islam.

Probably shaved his beard so he appears more credible. Hard for Americans to believe a guy that looks like Taliban.

People were staring at Bowe Bergdahl’s ridiculous beard and electric blue tie, but did anybody else notice how Obama couldn’t keep his hands off Mrs. Bergdahl?

This is a ruse by the government..

Obviously.

Obama rescued this guy and traded real bad terrorist for him.

Does anything think they'll take the chance of him admitting he betrayed his military oath and the country after being rescued by the President? Of course not.

They'll brain wash him with every threat imaginable.

They're not going to cut him loose until everyone has memorized the same script.

Bet the rent they telling this guy if he don't go along and stick to the scrip, he and his parents who've already received death threats, will be killed by right wing radical Americans. With more threats of military prosecution.

I don't have sympathy for either Bergdahl, they both made their choices, but 0bama focused all the attention them to divert scrutiny from his Tollybon Five “trade.” Had 0bama kept it low key Bowe Bergdahl would be in big trouble but there wouldn’t be anywhere near the public attention on him or his father. 0bama has destroyed the Bergdahl family and he did it on purpose.

Like I said, I don't have sympathy for the Bergdahls but they are in the spotlight because 0bama put them there to deflect attention from his treasonous acts and I'm not going to let that distraction work. Next time you see a pic of 0bama hugging it up with Bergdahl's parents remember that he was knowingly throwing them to the wolves. That's how freaking cold and sociopathic he is.

Doesn’t torture do a lot of damage psychologically, especially in the area of emotions, since throughout the imprisonment a POW has to suppress his normal response to torture in order to maintain his sanity. Wasn’t this also a problem with Vietnam and Korean POW’s?

That could never happen. If Bowe ever sets foot in the continental US, he might screw up and start telling what really happened when he walked away from his unit in Afghanistan.

but the Pashto and Arabic incantation at the White House?

More startling (or revealing) than the statement was the little smile that Obama flashed when Bergdahl said it.

Was he pleased that Bergdahl had fulfilled one of the requirements set down by the Taliban for his son's release? Or was it more personal than that?

I agree with your assessment of 0bama (in fact, it may be a little generous), but not your assessment of his motives. By bringing the Bergdahls into the public spotlight he also illuminated the 5 terrorist trade bait at the same time. One goes with the other. No talk about Bergdahl, no talk about the released terrorists. In that sense he blew it. But the fact is that he just doesn’t care.

He should have shaved it before he got to Washington. His son was in Germany by that time.

He was talking to the Taliban and there were probably a lot of code words in his little speech.

"If I were Bergdahl's lawyer I would advise him to not say anything to anyone."

But of course!

I'd bet dollars to donuts that there is a long line of those bottom-feeders lined up to represent him pro-bono for the expected notoriety it will bring them.

I think the release (”trade”) of the five most dangerous terrorists in Gitmo would have made waves no matter how low key the announcement was. I’m pretty sure that was controversial enough to get attention.

I suspect it’s a scam to give the appearance of a breakdown of family relationship, and/or, to maybe give the sham appearance of mental illness on the deserter’s part. Am I overly suspicious?

Not too many ambulance chasers are up to snuff on the UCMJ - but Nidal Hassan did find an extremely slimy expert.

Was Bowe tortured? I do not know...

What I do know is that a relatively healthy young man walked to the awaiting helicopter. If the torture had been unrelenting and ongoing, Bowe would have looked gaunt/frail at the handover. He would not have walked upright without any hint of injury.

Caught a YouTube video of the prisoner handover at the end of the Vietnam war. The one where John MCCain is returned.

Every man was at least 20lbs underweight. It was obvious that none of them would be running a marathon anytime soon.

Those men had been tortured. That is what the effects of torture looks like.

Bowe needs to work on his limp a bit more...
