Southern Baptists are becoming more PC....why don’t they just elect Gene Robinson and be done with it already?

The need to be “inclusive” is ridiculous—especially considering how exclusive the Real Church is.

Exclusive? Where are you getting that from?

Exclusive? Where are you getting that from?

Matthew 7:13-14

13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14 Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Matthew 7:21-23

21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

I take issue with your comments. More PC? In whose opinion? Are you a member of a SBC? I am. One of the reasons is that it has remained more Scripturally pure than most other denominations and even most of the other Baptist groups. While there may be local churches who entertain other doctrines, the SBC remains one of the leaders in holding to the NT church teachings. Growing up, my family went from Baptist church to Baptist church, all of a different Baptist group affiliation. There is some weirdness out there, to be sure, but we chose the SBC because of its strong stands. They needed to deal with the slavery issue LONG ago, but growing up in the north, it was never an issue in northern SBC churches. Our SBC church overseas had every country and color of people possible and there was NEVER an issue with race, country of origin, etc. The SBC would NOT support homosexuality, in my opinion, and should it do so, then we would be out of there in a heartbeat. I’m certain our pastoral staff would take it to the church to drop SBC membership if they did.

It is one thing to invite homosexuals to church, to pray for them, to encourage them in their faith, as long as the Truth is NEVER compromised and their lifestyle is never honored. I don’t believe they should be serving in any capacity in the church as long as they are practicing their lifestyle. It is one thing to feel the attraction for your same sex, but you abstain from sex altogether...stay celibate. I know some who do this. They feel the attraction and do not want to marry a woman, and if that is how they feel, they should not until God changes them. We need to allow God to change the person, through wise counsel and good discipleship. I pray that the SBC remains solid in their stand to not allow homosexuals to have any leadership/teaching positions in the church.

We should NOT be making disparaging remarks about them and we need to be careful that we don’t be a stumbling block to them. God still loves them. Jesus died fro them. They are made in His image, as well, but confused or deceived, so we need to be careful that we help them walk in Truth and leave behind error. We have our own areas to deal with, so we need to remove the “log” first, then pray fervently as we deal with homosexuals in the church. If they feel condemnation from the church, especially because we have failed to love them, then their “death” is on our hands. Please be careful. I’ve had MANY homosexual friends. They are people, and honestly, most of them are just deceived, tragically. Let’s be merciful (show God’s mercy to them) so they’ll come to Him and repent of the lifestyle altogether! If we cannot do that, then we should be examining our own hearts to see if we are truly His. The ground at the cross is level...for everyone, regardless of their sin or station in life.

If your church will not allow a homosexual to enter the door and feel welcome to come in and hear the Gospel, then something is wrong with your church.

So? I take issue with the fact that the SBC is becoming a hodgepodge of the modern day Laodicean Church more and more everyday. I left an “SBC” church about 5 years ago because this certain church decided that Mammon should be served instead of Jesus and His message.

Honestly, I have no idea why you decided to give me a lecture about homosexuals. I mentioned Gene Robinson because the SBC is talking about “opening up” to other normally not so Baptist type people. Sounds very Joel Osteenish to me. For what it’s worth, I have two homosexual uncles living in total depravity and will enter Hades (if they do not repent of their sin) upon death.

Very well put!

Luke 13:24 Make every effort to enter through the narrow door, because many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able to.

I’ve heard about MISSION OUTREACH to the lost. What are YOU claiming the SBC is doing?

“Supporters of both candidates downplay the significance of race and agree the next president should be someone who can help halt the denomination’s decline in membership.”

Do you have a problem with racial diversity in the SBC?

How about this gem?

From the article: “The convention does not announce in advance what resolutions it will consider at its annual meeting, but recent controversies include the admission of a Muslim student to a Southern Baptist seminary and the decision of one Southern Baptist church to stop preaching that homosexuality is immoral.”

All it takes is one bad seed to ruin a crop. Get my drift?

“Get my drift?”

Nope. A congregation can only be removed from the SBC at the Convention, which takes place once each year. The church that now accepts homosexuality has only done so recently, and thus was not subject to removal at the 2013 Convention. If the Convention takes no action, which is highly unlikely, THEN complain.

“the admission of a Muslim student to a Southern Baptist seminary”

This came to light last month. It is likely to be addressed at the Convention. There won’t be many folks supporting using Cooperative Program funds to support non-Christians in a SBC seminary.

Claiming “Southern Baptists are becoming more PC....why don’t they just elect Gene Robinson and be done with it already?” is pretty ridiculous.

Are you saying the Bible is racist, or Baptists are?

Or maybe your saying God and Baptists aren’t racist enough.

Why don’t you just say what you mean?

“With 5,001 registered messengers and 3,553 ballots cast, Floyd received 1,834 votes, or 51.62 percent. Kim, pastor of Global Mission Church of Greater Washington in Silver Spring, Md., received 1,446 votes or 40.70 percent while Moore, pastor of New Salem Baptist Church in Hustonville, Ky., received 210 votes or 5.91 percent. Moore is the current second vice president of the Southern Baptist Convention.”

You sound like a liberal throwing the race card around, while you pretend to not understand what the word EXCLUSIVE means.

What does John 1:12 mean to you?

Do you not think that being an adopted son of the Creator of the Universe is not exclusive?

Do you not believe what Jesus said in John 14:6? Osteen doesn’t, Warren doesn’t, Oprah doesn’t, and I’ve heard a few “SBC folks” say they don’t either over the years. It’s just not “inclusive enough”....

The article discussed RACIAL diversity. It had nothing to do with rejecting the need to repent and believe, nor was it suggesting that the SBC was looking to accommodate sinful behavior.

I haven’t thrown anything. I’ve simply inquired about what you’re throwing. You complain about the Baptists being too diverse racially, then you complain about God being too exclusive, to the detriment of those who reject Him. You accuse Baptists of embracing homosexual behavior, based on the fact that they won’t elect a homosexual president. What you say makes no sense, and when you’re asked about it, instead of clearing up what you meant to say, you call names.

When I first asked you about your off the wall remark, I genuinely wanted to know. I thought you might have a rational explanation, and I wanted to read it. Now, I realize you just hate Baptists, and will say whatever random thought comes into your head to help you express that. And I’m no longer curious about what you meant to say. It couldn’t possibly have been important or interesting.

I realize God excludes people who reject Him. I was responding to the accusation that God’s “real” church is racially exclusive.
