Bank on it. WPGB is going sports talk soon. CC wants a Pittsburgh sports FM badly. If it goes down Rush et al will be looking for a new home.
There are a lot of back room deals in the works.
Of course the FCC may be a problem. Plus there is a lot of misinformation being sent out. Some preliminary changes could start in the next two weeks. First reports could be in all access or radio info trade papers.

When a station makes a format change, is there a certain time of year when they prefer to do so? Early summer? Beginning of the fall season? Or is it immediate once the decisions are made and the lineup in place?
That’s bad news. I’ll probably have to start listening to talk radio on the internet, which isn’t easy at work.
It can be just about anytime now. It used to be Jan. to Mar. It also somewhat depends on the format. You mostly want to have things ready to go, set in stone early so sales can be up and running for Fall.

Hope yinz faired the storms last night ok...I worked yesterday, we close at 6, youngest sons baseball game was cancelled (he was at friends house who he was going to drive to game with) and ended up SIDEWAYS after rushing drainage (in the other boys neighborhood) flooded a dip in the bottom of a hill. The water just took the Jeep. Had to be a quick foot or so, the water was fountaining up out of storm drains. And this happened in a NEW neighborhood. And more “fun” on the way today :(
I am really discourage today. Read Rush’s transcript yesterday (drudge had it). Rush seems to think that immigration IS going forward (well show me!) and now this am I read that Rand Paul is now “championing” reform.
We are so screwed. Maybe the solar flare will will save us on Friday the 13th...

I’ve been expecting WPGB to flip to all-sports for close to two years now. ESPN wants to be on FM in all major markets. They are surely not happy with the 970 signal. Plus I think that will play a role in keeping the Steelers and Penguins away from CBS.
CC could flip talk to 970 and the low-power FM translator they are moving here from Uniontown. But I believe Rush has a clause in his contract that gives him an opt-out to seek a more powerful station.
A talk station without Rush seems like a dicey proposition IMO.
Two Sport channels in the same area? That would suck. Pittsburgh radio sucks in general.
I like to listen to Burgh sports but 93.7 is starting to suck. Hopefully a new sports talk can be done right..

Hi Greg! I was driving home...our sail across the enormous puddle probably took 5 or 6 seconds. It was (sm) hailing and raining so hard I couldn’t see. After I got control again, my 17 yr old driver son says to me “you gotta admit, that was pretty sweet.” Needless to say, I’m checking wx forecast before I let him drive on any rainy days. Sweet my insurance policy playing butt...

LOL, enjoy the day off. We have a BIL in plus youngest son had to be here early to get some things then go for an orientation at his new job. So I didn’t have time to check for a thread and had to get some sleep.

3WS remains in first place. BOB-FM had a solid month and moved into second place, ahead of WDVE. Y108 and KISS round out the top five.
KDKA-AM was down almost a full point. The Fan was down slightly. The X was up slightly, perhaps getting a bump from the last Penguins playoff series.
WPGB had a third straight modest increase while WESA had its third consecutive slight decline.

FWIW The modest increase is probably because of listeners tuning in for Rush and Hannity because where else ya gonna go...
Also rumors are all over the place. Hot one this AM is that CC figures they can flip 970AM to talk once they move ESPN to WPGB. That way they >MAY< be able to keep Rush, Hannity and the rest.
Back room deals being made. WJAS >MAY< decide to do an "oldies" format similar to the old 3WS but with a bit more timely playlist. Still might use Q&R in the morning with a return to talk...play a token oldie...back to talk.
LOTS of disinfo being floated so something is up and as I said ANYTHING can happen...ANYTHING!
