To honor the memory of the recently departed Martha Hyer, here is a classic episode of "The Beverly Hillbillies" where the beautiful Miss Hyer guest stars as Tracy Richards. THE Tracy Richards. The richest girl in the world who connives to buy the Clampett mansion. One of my favorite episoded.

Indeed. And as far as I know she never publicly discussed what her politics were. I don’t know if she was conservative or liberal and I’m fine with that.

You know, for years I remembered all these bits from the Beverly Hillbillies.

Imagine my surprise when years later watching Nick at Night (or whatever) when I came to find out they were all in the same episode!

That was just an action packed one, I guess.

Loved that show, but my heart’s always been with Eva Gabor “New York is where I’d rather stay...”

She was very glamorous, and judging body language, she had a good sense of comic timing, like a Doris Day. This is an actress I don’t ever recall seeing on anybody’s talk show even one time. I dont recall seeing her on the old shows like Mike Douglas or Merv Griffin. Merv would have lavished attention on her. Maybe the roles for a middle aged woman became too few, so she just walked away from hollywood in any form.

Imdb says: "She is a staunch Republican and conservative."

Also: "Her classmates at Northwestern University included Cloris Leachman, Paul Lynde, Charlotte Rae, Charlton Heston, Patricia Neal and Agnes Nixon."

That was a good episode. Almost as good as the one Gloria Swanson co-starred in.

Thank you what a classic. Brings back my childhood memory. I think what made the Hillybillies is they portrayed a simple family from the hills and never allowed money to change them. They remained the same from rags to riches especially granny and her possum pies LOL

If I turned down $40, I’m certainly not going to take a blank check.

That’s good to read that she was conservative. Hollyweird’s so overflowing with liberalism it’s always nice to read of alternatives. I wonder if she and Heston were friends. Too bad they never made a film together.

Indeed. She played Doris Day’s nemesis in the 1954 musical comedy “Lucky Me”. She also gave a great performance as June Allyson’s spoiled and conceited sister in “My Man Godfrey.”

I read she spend the last few decades of her life as a recluse in New Mexico. She was probably happier outside of Hollyweird.

I'm with Ellie Mae, always have been.

I met her once in Missouri, when she was probably in her late 40s. (Like I am now, ulp.) She was sweet and funny and still cute.

Oh, that’s nice of you!

Some actors are just acting, but Donna Douglas was “bone sweet.”
