College graduation is a special time in America, and its even more special this year if you are gay.
A number of public colleges and universities gave special recognition this year to graduating seniors who amazingly managed to complete their degrees while suffering the grueling hardship of being lesbians and homosexuals, reports Campus Reform.
Administrators at these taxpayer-funded institutions allowed gay students to attend this years commencement ceremonies donning caps and gowns with special honor cords.
Straight students do not appear to have been given the option of having special tassels.
The University of Missouri-Columbia hosted a separate but equal! lavender graduation for gay students.
We host Lavender Graduation to honor the accomplishments and hardships members of the LGBTQ and Ally population have had to go through on this campus, explains a description at the website of Mizzous LGBTQ Resource Center.
The announcement complains about repeated heterosexism, roommate and floormate disputes, assigned love poems in English class and foreign language tests that mark us wrong for the gendered pronoun use in the go on a date scenario.
All are invited to walk with us, no matter level of involvement or identities, and all friends, family, mentors, and people are invited to attend and cheer, the description adds.
Penn State University and San Diego State University provided rainbow-tassel options for gay graduates.
Many other schools gave special cords to gay students to honor their special accomplishment of graduating while gay including the University of Arizona, Montclair State University and Virginia Commonwealth University, notes Campus Reform.

Faggies think they own the other ninety eight percent. They really do.
The dam is going to finally break, the PC Iron Curtain will ultimately fall, like it did in Eastern Europe in 1989, beginning with a single state.
There’s going to be a faggie manifestation in a red state, and the counterprotest will be gargantuan in size as faggies realize they’re not doing Gay Pride in San Francisco. Ordinary people will counterattack, and it won’t be pretty. Like the crowds that confronted the Black Panthers in Texas a few years ago.
It’s coming, folks. Another molestation by another faggie in a position of trust, and the collective rage will be unstoppable even by the likes of Obama & Eric Holder.
Well, then you’re the first and I congratulate you for having the strength of your conviction! I know the majority of FReepers who have and do send their children to public school will be glad to know your low opinion of them!
I didn’t backpedal except to say that the parent was not a friend but a neighbor. Is that your definition of backpedaling, your dumber than I even imagined. Horrible that you have been able to hide out so long on FR. Class of 98 has been getting band lately at a huge rate. You folks are starting to crawl out of the woodwork after hibernating for years. Oh and so you are not confused......ANY PARENT WHO SENDS THEIR CHILDREN TO PUBLIC SCHOOL ARE CHILD ABUSERS and should have their kids taken away from them. Clear enough?
Why? Why would someone’s sex life earn them anything special?
You are outstanding! God Bless you!!!!!
your dumber than I even imagined should be you're dumber than I even imagined.
Perhaps the Class of 98 has been banned lately, but certainly not, as you put it, band.
And just for technicality's sake -- you misused singular subjects and collective pronouns (but I know how hard "their" is to get right).
Gee -- and YOU being the pro-education parent an' all!
Isn't that "Michael Sam U"?
What the heck are they yammering about, they ‘suffered’ for being gay? Yea, suuuuure they did.
I was walking out of the bank the other day, and the woman who helped set up a new account says, ‘say hi to your wife for me’. Of course she meant to say ‘daughter’. It occurred to me, as people took a glance at me, how easy it would be to play that crap up! I’m guessing 1/2 of those with these colored ropes are NOT gay, it’s all bs.
You better believe on this topic I hold a low opinion their decision. Public schools sexualize our children, indoctrinate kids against their family, against their faith, against the very foundation of what made this country what it is.
If that is important to you. I understand your priorities.
Leftists think they're being "open minded" and fair and tolerant. Celebrating homosexuality is the "evolved" route for humanity. However, since homosexuals CANNOT reproduce, these self-proclaimed elitists, like the Dodo Bird, are evolving humanity straight into extinction. Don't stress over the answer to the question, just fight for reason, decency and honor to prevail. Never submit to their threats, jeers and convoluted jibber jabber. Openly stand against homosexual behavior, but "pray for the gay."God's on our side.
grueling hardship? keep it to yourself. hardship averted
I know the majority of FReepers who have and do send their children to public school will be glad to know your low opinion of them!
...I note in your profile that you self describe as a Catholic...tell me, are you pleased with the state of Catholic education today...? Are you pleased with school after school shuttering its doors, for lack of enrollment due to parents being required to fund the public institutions regardless of their personal wishes...? And speaking of forced funding, are you as a public education devotee pleased with the devious practice of ‘hiding’ this funding under the guise of ‘property taxes’...? I mean, since we’re all so open and about in this society, should the public schools not just send out invoices for their services like any other industry is required to do, and have to collect their remuneration, as others must do...
...if you are indeed aligned with the practice of forcing people to ‘fund’ education with the threat of force being its primary ingredient, I ask that you defend it, rather than fall back on the lame ‘majority also does it’ excuse...let us offer that same majority an opportunity to do otherwise, and see how long the public model survives...
and by all means feel perfectly free to correct any typos I may have let slip through...I note your pleasure in doing so...
Tell the heterosexuals to stay home on graduation day and enroll in "sensitivity" classes in order to graduate the following year. They also must learn to properly dance, decorate and dress.
I know there are terrible things going on in many public schools. But lately on FR, any positive experience is met with the hostility displayed here. As if the parents are either lying or too stupid to know "what's really going on." Whether one chooses to acknowledge it , or even finds it somehow "offensive", there are good public schools. That's just a fact. I really have to wonder if some of the commentors actually have any first-hand experience at all or are they just being "conservative cheshires."
You hit on a lot of things beyond the scope of what I was even saying here. I believe in school choice. I don't believe in the system as designed that forces you to a certain school due to your zip code, and I do think private school parents should be given tax relief or vouchers. Bring on the competition; it would improve the public schools and probably help moderate the cost of many private. Bottom line: I know families who are all public, who are all private/parochial, all home-school, and several who have used a mix of all three depending on the child and the need.
