WH on Lerner Emails: 'You've Never Heard of a Computer Crashing Before?'
Townhall ^ | 6-17-2014

Friendly reminder, America. They think you're stupid:

A top White House official blamed a computer crash for the disappearance of emails from embattled former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner, echoing the explanation the agency gave Congress last week for the two years' worth of missing subpoenaed correspondence. "I think it's entirely reasonable. And it's fact," incoming White House press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters aboard Air Force One Monday. "You've never heard of a computer crashing before?" he asked.

I have never heard of someone not noticing that their computer crashed for two years.

I'm sure what they have for Disaster Recovery is several levels beyond what Cabonite provides...

They have to have, federal guidelines. You can't just put it on your personal hard drive. And let's say for a minute she did, how did she access her email remotely. Or even if it's just archived email, wouldn't she save it to her personal n/w drive? Who uses their hd for anything anymore?

A user can always set their email client to store email on the local drive and delete from the server. That is how mine is set up. I’d be surprised though if a gov agency did not store copies of all emails. If this were about sexual harassment, they’d find ‘em.

I’m an IT professional. All but the very smallest businesses have server based email systems. I was hired in the late 1990s to manage a 2000 employee organization’s SERVER BASED email system. Backups are routinely taken, and archived off site, even back then.

The fact that they aren’t stringing these people up for this stupid excuse distresses me greatly.

The next thing that they will be claiming is that a bolt of lightning struck “The Cloud” and all the data there was fried.

Go To every Government agency that Lerner dealt with during the time frame you are looking for Go to their email servers and Type in LERNER you will get everyone with that name.

“Strange. I’ve never had emails on my “computer”. Any email system I’ve had for a couple decades now have been on centralized systems (private and corporate. I’ve been told that those systems are backed up and archived.”

For a while the Fortune 500 company I worked for “allowed” us to archive emails to our hard drive. But we could have put them on the net as the net was backed up every night and our machines weren’t. But they still had them in their backups. They just wouldn’t get them for anybody below the rank of director or unless a director told them to. In my opinion a bunch of guys came up with this without checking whether it was reasonable. Like Hillary who googled her own translation of “reset” they knew they couldn’t be wrong. The most ignorant people are those who don’t known what it is they don’t know.

NOTHING is ever lost on a hard drive. That is- unless someone intentionally destroys it.

What they mean is that the hard drive was accidentally demolished and then melted down into the source materials which were then accidentally dropped in difference oceans by unknown persons.

This goes right to the Oval Office; why would they engage in these amateur hour desperation tactics unless it did? If somebody will just leak, it is over for 0bama. Impeach, convict, remove, imprison. Done.

Carbonite??

Not needed. Exchange email is stored on a server that is backed up. A computer crash is irrelevant because the mail is still on the server. Computers crash all the time but mail is rarely ever effected when using using a corp email system like exchange. Notice they aren’t saying server crash. The mail is there. This one big fking joke and Congress needs to get their act together and hire some consultants ASAP.

Even if Lerner deleted her emails they will still be on tape backups.
