Help finding lost relatives
Self | June 20, 2014 | MeshugeMikey

I've been searching for a "lost relative" via the web since yesterday.

As I remember I was able to use at least one search site with some success a few years ago, but at present am getting nowhere with this current search.

Any help fellow freepers might have would be most welcome indeed.

What do you mean by “lost”?

I have found an app, Argali, to be useful for telephone and address searches. Ten searches a month are free with the home edition. Also, the website Reporter's Desktop collects a wide range of free search tools, and BRBpub is a useful free portal for searching local and state public record searches. That ought to get you off to a good start.

Search local news in her town for her name for marriage or human interest stories. Local hospitals, local neighbors, if known. Did she have a trust? Is the trustee known? If you know where she banked you could try to contact the bank and ask them to relay message through the bank. (They will not acknowledge that she is a customer, but may agree to forward a note to her if found in their customer records.)

On the grim side, coroner and obituaries. If she had a will there would be probate records.

Lets hope that she just moved and got a new cell phone.

If any of this works let me know!

Ive checked obits,,and death records.....etc..etc.

Im thinking one of his Facebook “friends” would likely have made a mention of his passing if indeed it had occurred.

Ive been focusing on this altogether too much and so left the house for most of the day.
