Forget the lighthearted puns about a new kind of Street high, Jim Cramer believes there's serious opportunity in a marijuana stock.
It's GW Pharmaeuticals.
Cramer is a fan of this company, in particular, because it isn't simply a bet on more states approving medical marijuana as a treatment for patients fighting cancer.
Instead, this U.K.-based company is at the forefront of developing new drugs from compounds found in cannabis, or marijuana plants.
And if any company has a strong pipeline of cannabis derived drugs, it's GW Pharma.
"First, they've already gotten approval for their lead drug, Sativex, a mouth spray for multiple sclerosis spasms, in about 25 foreign countries," Cramer said. "And GW is also studying Sativex as a treatment for cancer pain. If the drug can get approved in the United States, it could be huge for the company, because they've licensed much of the overseas rights to Bayer and Novartis, but in America, Sativex belongs to them."
As promising as that may be, it's this second drug that Cramer called a real game changer. It's Epidiolex, "a cannabis based treatment for epilepsy and Dravet syndrome, a rare but severe form of pediatric epilepsy." Cramer said the drug is currently starting phase II trials and just a few days ago, the company released strong safety and efficacy data.
"The numbers showed that after 12 weeks of treatment, 48 percent of patients saw at least a 50 percent reduction in seizure frequency, while 41 percent saw a 70 percent reduction. And at the end of the study, 15 percent of those patients were seizure-free. Those are fabulous results."

Get em hooked while they’re young. Much easier to indoctrinate ‘em that way.
Who are YOU to call what God himself has given us evil?
Funny how you know for a fact the govt has been lying to you all your life about everything but this!
When applied to the young patient, her seizures decreased 99%.
No getting high, no addiction, just herbal medicine.
The gall of some people, saving a 3 year old from hundreds of siezures a week and a near catatonic state with a teaspoon of liquid extract so low in THC it won’t get anyone high. Preventing such atrocities is truly the role of Big Government Conservatism.
So if God put it here and we go down that path of reasoning we should be able to drink snake venom, arsenic, or sulfuric acid, right? Marijuana is still a drug because of its effect on the body and has long term effects on memory and immediate effects on motor function skills. I’mnot saying its any worse than alcohol. As a former LEO in another life I saw some pretty horrendous traffic accidents that resulted from impaired ability from its usage including one where an 18 wheeler did not react fast enough to swerve out of the way of some road debris and ended up clipping a vehicle with a family of four which resulted in the top of their vehicle being shaved and two of the family members being decapitated. The driver’s cab reeked of marijuana and the smoke was very heavy. Don’t tell me it doesn’t cause impairment. But having said that alcohol has worse and a more intense effect on the body but is legal because of the tax $$$. If you’re a user and do it in your own home I’m not judging you.
Get over yourself ,, SUGAR is a drug by your definition and it surely kills over time. This drug causes no impairment ,, no or minimal THC.. This is not a story about recreational use of MJ ..
You obviously have not the skill or knowledge to discern the difference between good and bad.
That would explain your reasoning away Nazi Death Squad Drug behavior towards US citizens.
Enjoy your ACA, it's the next goose step you have been marching to all your life.

You assume much. I’m not for any of that. Sorry if I offended you.
Alcohol and tobacco are more addictive than cannabis. Do you support banning those drugs, or are you a hypocrite?

I use neither but from my own peronal experience with people I’ve known that’s not true. Cannabis was very addictive and they couldn’t function without it.
