Indeed. I was at a farm once about a month after 30,000 chickens froze to death one night after a power failure.
The farmer got tired of hearing the power alarm go off every time the lights flickered and turned the system off around 3:30am.
It went off for good sometime between then and first light.
I spent a lot of summers on my grandmother’s family’s farms in Chesapeake when I was a kid. All of her brothers and sisters had adjoined chunks of land.
Damned hard work. Long days and tired nights. People work hard for their living.
Sad to hear this stuff, but it’s part of life.
