They showed videos of the two other incidences of biting with Suarez.

In one of the videos, the one that happened in Netherlands above, Suarez in the white and red shirt, the Referee is standing right there, action has stopped, it looks like the ref is talking to the players and Suarez seems to do the bite right there in front of everyone. It almost looks like an involuntary action as much as the reflex of hitting someone's knee with a little hammer.

It's absolutely perplexing.

Still, as I said in the other thread, in the 2010 final, De Jong did his karate kick, received a yellow card, Super Mario flew over the guy's head yesterday, Perreira's I believe. That was a yellow card too. Both of those actions look like they could really hurt someone to put this in perspective.

In the end, Italy is the victim of unfortunate circumstances, like Bosnia and Croatia. To me, the result should be binned though FIFA does not do such retroactive measures. It certainly looked drawish and as in one of the other threads it was said, "there was general confusion on the pitch after the bite" and then the goal comes. I think Italy would OR could have held on and drawn the game and advanced. This is a bit like France/Italy in the 2006 final, another dubious result.

I hope Jurgen said “Boys, don’t get your daubers in the dirt. Michael Bradley won’t be playing the next game!”

Now that would certainly give the squad some hope!

Honduras plays the most pedestrian soccer of the CONCACAF teams. I usually pull for them. They give the U.S. a tough game every time, though.

Here? Haupt Suisse!

Ghana match-fixing scandal. Suarez’s bite.

FIFA has to be going nuts at these things marring what has otherwise been a very successful tournament for them so far.

(Though in terms of Suarez, there’s no such thing as bad publicity, right?)

It’s only the first round, but I think Suarez has a lock on Golden Tooth award.

I'd go with a lifetime ban as Taylor Twellman said on TV, any flagrant breach of the rules like Zidane's headbutt should be a lifetime ban. One of the other pundits says he thinks it will be an 8 game ban.

If the ban is 12 matches or 2 years as the pundits on TV say is the max, that might be workable. Still, Suarez should be warned one more such incident is a lifetime ban. They should have said that before the World Cup began.

Players could get hurt with behavior like Suarez's. It brings the game into disrepute as well.

Lastly, watch the replay of the game, within 8 minutes of the game beginning, Chiellini claims he was elbowed in the face and he was rolling around on the ground, I found that hard to believe. Italy also has their cynical style but definitely don't deserve to go out in this manner all-the-same. Let's not forget when DeRossi elbowed and indeed bloodied Brian McBride in USA vs. Italy, 2006.

There’s no doubt that Suarez is the hungriest man on the field.

Bosnia’s manager Susic is correct, Bosnia was the victim of bad refereeing. Don’t want to make excuses and say they should be in 2nd place. They had their chance vs. Nigeria. This is a fair display today, I would say they had some bad luck.

No cut and paste the photos here, the story may have already been posted but the Daily Mail did have these odd photos of Suarez and Chiellini from the Confederations Cup, some of those photos are just downright gross.

Check the first 2 photos, it almost looks like Suarez was trying to “gnaw” on him last year in the Confederations Cup which for those who don’t know, is a bit of a practice run for the World Cup tournament with champions from all the confederations invited.

If he’d never had this problem with biting before, we could probably just get on with it, things happen in a game.

Investigate it promptly, if indeed the bite transpired, throw him out of the tournament at the least. As far as I’m concerned, they can play the last 10 minutes of that game again too but of course, that won’t happen.

Enough of this story, he would have been undeniably a star even if Uruguay had been left behind. They cheated Italy, if Italy had advanced, Marchisio and Balotelli would not have played and that would have been difficult.

I feel good about the USA’s chances at advancing tomorrow. As the game approaches, it is not as worrisome. Come On USA.
