From the post by cotton1706:
In the study of the history of government and power struggles, what happened yesterday is nothing new. The question before us is "do we reward such behavior with another vote?"
My answer would be no. And I came to that conclusion some time ago (and have caught hell with many FReepers here because of it).
Basically, in the parlance of our times, voting for those who betray you is AMNESTY, though most would call it COMPREHENSIVE SENATE POPULATION REFORM, i.e. "we have to win back the Senate!"
By voting for such men as John Cornyn, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Graham, Lamar Alexander, Scott Brown, Thad Cochran, etc., you are essentially saying, "what you did is perfectly ok and you will have our support because you were clever enough to put an "r" next to your name."
I agree completely.
Thanks for sharing that. It’s true enough.
