A Michigan boy who had been missing for 11 days was found alive Wednesday in his parents' basement.

According to The Associated Press, officers found 12-year-old Charlie Bothuell V while searching the Detroit home as part of the investigation. The boy was crouching behind boxes and a plastic container, with food and bedding nearby.

Charlie, who lives with his father and stepmother, went missing June 14, the Detroit Free Press reported. Police said they searched the home several times – even with cadaver dogs.

> That comparison is totally unfair. The African village is clean, well-organized, and full of productive, healthy people. Detroit can’t come up to that level.

True. Many missionaries that visit Africa tell me that they live just as they have for thousands of years. The men lounge around all day while the women do all the work except when for some chores like goat or cattle herding. Sort of sounds familiar...

The guy could look happier about it!?! Any normal guy would scream, “Thank God!”, get up, and leave the set right away to go hug his son.

My take is that he is a passive male, raised by a domineering mama, so he doesn't leave the set because the producers didn't tell him to. He probably married the same type of woman -- hence the problem with the stepchild, who may be able to break the mold.

Whoa -- this article in the DailyMail just shot my above theory about a wicked stepmom all to hell -- the father was indeed the problem, not the stepmother, according to this report:

DailyMailOnline: Detroit boy found in his own basement after being missing for 12 days is released from hospital - but he's NOT gone home to his parents

“The boy was found behind a makeshift barrier and had access in and out of the basement through a tunnel, police sources have said. They added that the boy's stepmother had helped to hide him after her husband 'beat the boy with PVC pipe’.”
