Bad idea.
Make boots out of them — those distinctive markings on the back of the head would look very good on the shaft of the boot.
Substitute ‘muslim’ for ‘snake’ and your statement still works.
Kind of like a small zoo hmm. Well they need to be more careful with their snakes.
Yes ma’a :-)
This is speaking of the Edenic serpent (probably a guise of the devil) — not our modern literal snakes — but what’s a little theology between us?
ma’a should be ma’am
Ahh that is sightist!
Or, put the snakes eyes on the toe of the boot
I once heard Bob Livingston tell the story of Jerry Jeff getting Up Against the Wall from Ray, and the reaction from the crowd when they played it for the first time. They knew *immediately* they had a big hit on their hands.
That’s what happened during Andrew. A place like this was destroyed by the storm, and all the pythons headed out into the Glades. The rest is history.
That’s a beautiful snake. But holy cow, the meticulous care a person would have to take around it...let your guard down for a moment, and, well...
I’ll never be bitten by a snake because I stay the heck away from them!
“I know all the snake haters would suggest some manly way to destroy it,...but damn, I think cobras are cool as hell..”
They are and serve a purpose, just not in captivity for anything other than research. In my humble opinion.
Note to self: don’t ever get a job cleaning cobra cages, no matter what.
Yeah, on Animal Planet! In my back yard? Not so much.
you’d thnk so but there isnt a great deal of surplus antivenom around, and who knows how long it lasts.
I’ve got a cd somewhere of Jerry Jeff’s greatest hits that includes a live rendition, and he gives Ray Wiley credit in his introduction.
I think that was the first time I heard of Ray Wiley.
All Southerners have two first names—one of the few things Sherman couldn’t take or burn down.
I thought there was a law against bringing those things over here. If not there ought to be. I’d say a minimum of five years for possession, and 15 or so for trafficking— no possibility of parole. Legitimate research facilities could be exempted but should be closely monitored.
Mambas, cobras and the like make our pit vipers look like kittens. I doubt there’s a snake on earth that couldn’t thrive somewhere in the Southern US. Keeping them out is one of the few services the government could render.
Well, commonsense must be used by anyone studying snakes in captivity (and in the wild too, obviously)...I just find them fascinating...more so than any other kind of snake. They’re beautiful, exotic, and oh so deadly.
That’s reasonable.
