The first scheduled doubleheader at Wrigley Field in 31 years will take place Saturday, and the Chicago Cubs will be facing the same franchise that they did then.
Chicago's game scheduled for Sunday against the Washington Nationals was moved to Saturday as part of a day-night doubleheader after an offseason request by Alderman Tom Tunney, who was concerned about neighborhood traffic and congestion in connection with the city's annual Pride Parade.
It is the first scheduled twinbill at Wrigley since July 4, 1983, against the Montreal Expos, who moved to Washington in 2005 and became the Nationals. It will also be the first scheduled Sunday off for the Cubs since at least 1943.
Chicago (34-44) has taken the first two in the series after winning 7-2 on Friday to hand the Nationals (41-38) a third straight loss.
Backup catcher John Baker tied a career high and matched his season output with four RBIs for the last-place Cubs, who won for the 21st time in 38 games.
''(The players) have been developing a personality as a team,'' manager Rick Renteria said. ''They're having fun and getting to know each other, doing whatever it takes to play the game (the right way).''

Cubs?
Did anyone think about how Bears might feel about this name for a team?
PETA has weighed in?
Disgusting! Animals have feelings too...
Do they have real doubleheaders anymore, when you pay once and get two games, or is it all “day-night” crap.
No its all day night doubleheaders nowadays. That’s in the rare case they play a doubleheader at all. Single ticket all day doubleheaders don’t happen Anymore.
Perhaps you'd want to rephrase that comment.

They play single admission double headers, it’s just rare and they don’t schedule them. Yankees/Pirates played one this year.
Freegards
I’ll bet the local establishments love this. They probably either have to close for the day or come back the next morning with a hose and a squeegee.
Help me out here.
