In the movie "12 Monkeys" Bruce Willis plays a mentally ill person who believes he is a time traveler from the future. On the radio, he hears of a boy who has fallen down a well. Big news event. Huge crowd tries for days to rescue the boy.

Willis hears the news coverage and says, " I remember this from when I was a kid. The boy is alright. He's hiding in that barn behind the well. He and his friends were playing a joke, and it just got out of hand." And of course this turns out to be true. The film does a nice turn on the question of: "Are the crazy people crazy? Or are the sane people crazy?"
