WASHINGTON, DC - Home care workers and consumers are ready to stand up for quality home care in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Harris v. Quinn today.

"No court case is going to stand in the way of home care workers coming together to have a strong voice for good jobs and quality home care," said SEIU President Mary Kay Henry. "At a time when wages remain stagnant and income inequality is out of control, joining together in a union is the only proven way home care workers have of improving their lives and the lives of the people they care for."

The case was brought by the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, an extreme anti-worker group whose funders include billionaires like Charles Koch and the Walton family. It is the latest in a decades-long attack on the rights of working people to join together to improve their jobs and the quality of services they provide.

What a dumbass thing to say. They were forcing self employed people to pay union dues to a union that was supposed to represent employees who were also the employers. (It was a naked money grab just like they tried in Michigan)

You LOST! You thieving scum!

Now I hope to God that the people whom you stole from sue you out of business!

That’s quite a screed from SEIU President Mary Kay Henry, typical union garbage.

Home care is already out of reach for almost everyone.

Figure at least $10,000 a month plus an apartment or other dwelling plus food and other bills. The employees are a revolving door of turnover.

We live too long and the end has questionable value.

It was the victims of forced unionization that sued the union.

“That’s quite a screed from SEIU President Mary Kay Henry, typical union garbage.”

This hits directly at a big revenue stream for the SEIU, and the radical wing of the Democratic Party. Of course they are going to scream bloody hell about it.

"No court case is going to stand in the way of home care workers coming together to have a strong voice for good jobs and quality home care,"

And this court case does not stand in their way. They are free to come together, join the union, and pay those union dues to get what they want in the marketplace. They are also now free to say no, that was the right that was restored here.

I know, this garbage is coming from the union. Whenever the union puts out any garbage, they tell the public it is coming from the workers.

Yup. At this point even union members are beginning to rebel against their unions.

Exactly...I’d sure like to see any comments that Pam Harris has to make on the ruling, have looked and can’t locate any as yet.

Great day at SCOTUS! I’m not sure which case makes me happier. DO love seeing SEIU get its rear kicked. Think of all those millions of $ union dues they won’t get any more. Smile ;)

The employees are a revolving door of turnover....A woman I know was a double leg amputee from diabetes. They could not afford Home Health Care help, so her daughter took over. SS gave the daughter “X” amount of money to take care of her. Some Union raked dues off the SS check, (Not sure of which Union) but the daughter was never a signed Union member. Pure theft.
