I’m just not getting why this is such a big deal. LOTS of people do good deeds. I can point to people left and right, and not to chest thump but I have quite a few too.
The issue here is to try and bury the criticism of modern LE BAD actions. So cops do good things too. That does not erase when they choose to do bad, or ignore others cops who choose to do bad, any more than my good deeds can erase my bad deeds. The bad deeds still need addressed, not glossed over. Remember, Al Capone was quite generous too.
I think most of us saw the movie quote from Pirates of the Caribbean. It said something close to this.
“One good deed does not erase a lifetime of wickedness.”
Sparrow: “But one act of wickedness is enough to condemn a man.”
“Indeed”
And that is as true for cops as anyone else. Sorry, but I’m not going to forget the Dorner hunt idiots who didn’t even get punished, just because a couple cops bought groceries.
