Kevin Kreider hasn't been skateboarding long, but that didn't stop him from attempting a cross-country trek. Kreider is set to arrive in New York City next week, three months after leaving Santa Monica, California.
The Philadelphia-raised Kreider learned to skateboard just last year.
Kreider says he thought the trip would give him some perspective on life. But he says he mostly focused on the road to avoid cars.
Kreider expects to reach New York by mid-week.

Turns out it was a stupid idea, but I'd already bragged it up and too many people knew/got involved ... I was screwed.
Doesn’t sound like fun. Running across the country is tough also but sounds better than this.
????? How does skateboarding stop you from going bald????
I never understood skateboarding as a mode of transportation ... so much work and all painful.
Probably rode in back of a van most of the way —
Back in the mid-80s ran into a French dude, in the met sense of the term, not the collision sense, in a Salida, CO diner.
He was roller skating across the US, east to west, which is backwards of most cross-country guys, due to prevailing winds.
Was in late March, and he was about froze to death.
I remember a trip out of Salida, over Monarch pass a few years back, in March, in a 67 Chevy pickup with a car on a dolly behind us, through a blizzard, trying to "catch" a deer with the grill. Best memory of Salida, ever. Lol.
Hmmmm.... Something about CO and freezing.
Back in the day, I skateboarded myself to school most days.
My options where too walk, ride a bicycle and risk theft, walk the quarter distance away from the school to catch a bus or Skateboard.
Thankfully the terrain was mostly flat and the road was very smooth.

Out of all the skateboarders on the planet ... how many are so blessed ?
I watched a little of the X-Games and I thought skateboarders LOATHED flat land. :p
Didn’t work for me.
They just repaved the road in front of the home I lived at one time. A nice hill that I could get up to 30 mph on.
Sadly, I’m older and maybe wiser, but I so want to run that hill again.
I would do this in a heart beat.

Well ... just shows t’GO ya’ ...
My theory was that if I were going downhill and lost control I would/could fall on my head.
So, I started going downhill doing a handstand, so, if I fell I would/could land on my feet.
