foodtweeks™ Adds Community FoodBank of New Jersey to National Campaign Against Hunger
PR Newswire ^ | 7-11-2014

In order to be effective, a foodtweeks™ user must report "tweeking" (cutting calories from their food) so that the Community FoodBank of New Jersey will receive donations from foodtweeks™, equal to the amount of calories "tweeked" from the food using the app. The food bank can then distribute an equal number of nutritious calories to hungry families. This all comes at no cost to the user.

Posting a "tweek" on Facebook or Twitter doubles or triples each donation, expanding the influence of the foodtweeks™ donations to the hungry and awareness for the social cause. This activates citizens to serve their community and themselves.

Users simply tell the app what food they are thinking of buying, eating or preparing and they are given different types of suggestions to decide how to best eliminate calories from their meal without changing the taste or leaving themselves hungry.

Jay Walker, the inventor of foodtweeks™, is also the chairman of Patent Properties and curator of TEDMED, the health and medicine edition of the famous TED conference. A noted entrepreneur, Mr. Walker has founded three companies that serve more than 50 million customers. He is best known as the creator of Priceline, which brought a new level of value to the travel industry.

I don’t either. The article is so poorly written that it doesn’t make sense, but that is pretty much today’s standard of “journalism”.
