I am just livid that my 3rd grade daughter has a choice between a book she already read and this piece of propaganda to read this summer. I am having her read the book she already read...again. But I am thinking this requires a letter to the principal. It is just ridiculous that they are pushing this crap on little kids- trying to scare them at such a young age! I would teach the principal about reducing CO2 with bound hands and duct tape. That would be an educational experience for a dumba$$.

Now to be safe...let s just call it “Climate Change’ and no matter what happens we can collect taxes from anyone that breaths...and maybe a few years after your death cause your still emitting carbon

I'd be livid that my child wasn't being challenged and that her teachers didn't know or care that she'd read at least one of the books previously. Your daughter isn't an individual in school. She's a number.

I'd assign mine a level-appropriate book and wouldn't force her to repeat a book just because people who don't care about her don't have time for her as an individual. Why are you forcing her to repeat work she successfully finished? Would you be happy if that was done to you? Why are you supporting an unfair system?

To what end? They don't care about your child or how she's doing academically. They went out of their way to prove that to you. What are you expecting?

You need to question your ability to parent wisely if you are willing to send your child to a place where she might get in trouble if her parent questions what the school is doing. There is no way they'd have my child if I wasn't sure whether or not my words could get my child in trouble. What sort of punitive, sadistic people run this school, and why are you not sure whether or not they'd take it out on your child?

Yep, when I was in school it was the OZONE layer!!!! RUN for your lives! Stop using hairspray!!!! I remember as a kid thinking it was bogus. Never heard a word of it since Global Warming became the new scare fad. But to think how many billions are being flushed away is scary.
(My suggestion - pull her out of public school. Public school = child abuse.)
Global Warming on Free Republic
What I don’t like is the fear democrats are putting into young children with this global warming bunkum. It’s horrible.
Not fear for the most part, but they are building a wedge. To have a proper autocracy the young have to be alienated and separated from their parents. They also have to be taught other bits of propaganda such as riding the bus is good for the environment (it is not). That way they can feel like they are doing the right thing. The most important thing is they need to be given reasons to reject common sense and capitalism and that is the main purpose of the global warming juggernaut.
What is interesting is that up to 2007 there was still a nice upward trend in global temperature with only a little lull. Now there has been 7 more year of virtually no temperature rise. So whatever charts they show in the book which are probably circa 2005 will still look sufficiently scary (0.2C or more rise per decade) to be plausible threats. A 2C rise in a century would be not a huge threat (IMO) but not a walk in the park either. But with no subsequent rise after the book is written the climate models are thoroughly invalidated along with the laughable meme that the heat has disappeared into the ocean (the models model the ocean dimwits!). So I would have kids read the book but also explain the facts to them.
I’ve talked to some of these kids - the teacher are scaring them with ‘dooom and gloom’ end of the world lies.
Can you imagine the outrage if Christian teachers were telling small children they would burn in hell for eternity IF they didn’t buy into right wing ideas?
Well, that’s what the left is doing with the global warming bullsh*t. If it happens - and I doubt it ever will - we will deal with it. But to push this bogus theory on innocent children is sick. At least with the ‘duck and cover’ scare school scare games of the fifties, there WAS a chance a city would get nuked. It HAD happened. With global warming there’s hasn’t been ANY warming in almost two decades.
