A more fitting end for Archie would have been for him to get shot in a carjacking by an illegal immigrant. Can you imagine the reaction in the lamestream media if the writers did that? They would be run out of business for hate crimes.
Of course, no one buys the comic now. But by being "socially relevant" the writers preserve their media career options after they finally bankrupt Archie comic (financially and not just morally).
