He' back! Weird Al Yankovic Parodies Pharrell's "Happy" With "Tacky" —Watch the Hilarious Video!

We wonder if Pharrell Williams has gotten wind of this... "Weird Al" Yankovic debuted the music video for his first single from his upcoming album, Mandatory Fun, on Monday, and, in anticipation of the record's release, the 54-year-old celeb will be sharing eight new videos over the next eight days.

The first of which is a parody of the Pharrell's hit jam "Happy" and has been cleverly renamed "Tacky" in an effort to poke fun at the tackiest folks in our society with a little help from Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black, who are all featured in the clip.

Among the tacky offenses highlighted in the tune?

"Wear my Ed Hardy shirt with florescent orange pants," Stonestreet lip-syncs. "Got my new resume, it's printed in Comic Sans!"

"43 bumper stickers and a YOLO license plate, bring along my coupon book whenever I'm on a date," Black adds.

"Practice my twerking skills at the DMV, took the whole bowl of restaurant mints because they said they're free."

The track also calls out the sandals-with-socks wearers and the live-tweeters in addition to the over- Instagrammers and the notorious name-droppers. Oh, and did we mention Jack Black twerks? Yeah, that happens. Yankovic's latest record, which comes three years after his previous album, will also feature parodies of Miley Cyrus, Lorde, Robin Thicke and Iggy Azalea.

Saw him live a few years ago, one of the best shows I’ve ever been to.

Pharrell would’ve heard it before it was released; Weird Al gets copyright permission for everything he does and most acts WANT to be spoofed by him.

Trapped in the Drive-Thru (parody of R Kelly’s ‘Trapped In the Closet’) is my favorite.

Don’t have time to watch it again but if I am not mistaken the entire thing looks as if it’s done in one shot.

Dave Grohl said that he knew Nirvana made the big time when Weird Al parodied “Smells Like Teen Spirit.” They all loved it.

I love Weird Al... and Aisha Taylor... but you do not get tackier than Margaret Cho. Kirsten Schaal is pretty damned tacky, too, but I love her character Louise from Bob’s Burgers, so I’ll give her a pass.

Yes, Pharrell Williams knows about it.

We are teeming with excitement to announce that Nerdist is premiering “Weird Al” Yankovic’s first music video for his #8videos8days project. Feast your eyes on the video for “Tacky,” a wonderfully warped and wacky version of Pharrell’s hyper-bubbly mega-hit, “Happy.”

Featuring guest appearances from comedians Aisha Tyler, Margaret Cho, Eric Stonestreet, Kristen Schaal and Jack Black, the video was shot on location at the historic Palace Theatre in Downtown Los Angeles, the same space that was used as Julianne Moore’s apartment in The Big Lebowski.

“We’re going to have some fun today!” Al told us before shooting began. “Thank you, Pharrell; I really appreciate it–you’re a cool guy,” he said as he cracked that famously wide smile.

If only Weird Al, Bob Rivers, and James@War would do a parody tour together.

Yep, in an interview with the Toronto Sun Al recounted the phone call to Grohl:

“I’d like to do a parody of Smells like Teen Spirit.”
“Cool. Is it about food?”
“No, it’s about how you mumble all the words to the song.”
“Sounds great. Do it!”

This is the Modern Music Ping List. Our topic is music from the 20th and 21st century, from Ravel and Shostokovich through to the Synth Pioneers.
