Local TV news was more disgusting than usual yesterday. THe rat machine is really ramping things up against Corbett and the Harrisburg republicans.
Of course I am NOT a fan of either!
KD and the other stations were running a scare piece about property taxes going way up. It was blamed on Corbett and the republicnas claiming they are ignoring the problem.
School expenses are up and programs and services are being cut but the big problem is ....pensions. Not money to fund pensions.
It’s all republicans fault...Never mind that UNIONS forced the pensions and salaries...!
I gotta get outta this place!
BTW I am still a Longmire fan but every few episodes there is one that is too intense or graphic. Doesn’t bother mrs p6...she watches those new style graphic, gory, vampire, zombie fantasy shows.
For the first time last night Longmire jabbed at incidents like Ruby Ridge.
Usually the antagonists are left wing, envirowackos, hippies and such. Even American Indians and illegals are cast in villianous roles.
Last night it was a group that was against overpowering federal government. An extended family that was isolating itself.
While it turned out the leader was an immigrant and consumed to mental problems over the government (Longmire) killing his brother, it was surprising for a Longmire storyline.
The episode does fit in with the overall series storyline though and it was well done...a good episode. Just too intense for my taste.
Next week will probably be a little too tame and then a really good episode next.
And when schools do get more funding, instead of providing teachers with better salaries, or even supplies...they fire teachers & hire more adminsistrators. Its all to bloat the union and such. It never trickles down to the kids.
Property taxes are insane - well, the school tax part of them. My Mom owns a few buildings & I do her bookkeeping...and wow - I just cringe when I see the tax bills.
You sure have that right! And it is the kids who suffer.
I’m in Indiana County. So far, our taxes have been low (living in an old house in a now defunct coal mining ‘patch’ town), but taxes are set to go up.
Westmoreland county isn’t all that great - she owns a building there and 3 lots, in Lower Burrell, and the city/school taxes are terrible. Her building in Allegheny County is bigger, bigger lot, and the taxes are less!!
And yes, no one wants to buy a white elephant. Insane. And then the counties/cities/townships don’t do any maintenance or you have to BEG them to fix something. And they always have their hands out for more. Makes me want to move back to Tulsa, OK (I spent 10 years out there in the 90’s).
