It was a vicious attack: The alleged beating of a man by teenagers amid a large crowd in northwest suburban Park Ridge’s Hinkley Park last weekend.
And it was was caught on video.
Footage first obtained by the Park Ridge Herald-Advocate shows a 48-year-old man in a yellow shirt pushed to the ground and then punched and kicked by three individuals while a raucous crowd looks on. CBS 2 aired the video on Thursday night at 10 p.m.
Police say the man was looking for his son when someone threw a lit firework near him. When he tried to find out who threw it, he was attacked and suffered a concussion. Eventually, another teen stepped him to help the man.
Park Ridge Police Det. John Dorner said the video is consistent with others that detectives have viewed of the incident, which occurred just before 10 p.m., July 12, not far from Taste of Park Ridge festivities. Police estimated there may have been as many as 200 teens in the park that night.

remember if you are attacked by more than one person, disparity of force allows you to use greater force than your attackers. things that make disprity of force - if you’re old, if you have disabilities, if you are legally blind without glasses, if you are smaller, if you are female and attackers are male, if you are ambushed/attacked by surprise. disparity of force is a legal concept accepted throughout the country.
also remember the fleeing felon rule, where you can shoot to stop a fleeing felon from trying to escape the scene of their crime and avoid arrest/capture. most states have this type of law.

Oh, surprise! But the media is a fault for declining to accurately describe the demographic most frequently involved in mass attacks when it is them.

I typed that before looking downthread. I then stated my surprise. The media’s trying to confuse us!
Well....it’s good that all of us get a chance every once in a while to re-examine conceptions we have internalized — that may themselves be a source of confusion.
I like the amount of bonds they placed on the thugs. Although when being
attacked by a group a Firearm is always the better defense.
