Ted Cruz: 'Abolish the IRS' and station all 110,000 agents 'on the southern border'
Daily Mail ^ | July 20, 2014 | David Martosko

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz told a cheering crowd of conservatives Saturday night that the next U.S. president should shutter the much-maligned Internal Revenue Service and turn the agency's 110,000 employees loose to police the U.S.-Mexico border.

'That's slightly tongue-in-cheek,' he said in Denver at the Western Conservative Summit.

'But think about it for a second: You travel thousands of miles, you cross over and see 110,000 IRS agents? You'd turn around and go home!'

[Snip]

The normally stolid and bloated GOP establishment, he hinted Saturday, is dismayed at his rise to prominence among tea party sympathizers and other grass-roots conservatives, and he wore his outsider status like a badge of honor.

'I spent most of the week back in Washington, D.C.,' he began. 'So it's great to be back in America.'

Cruz described American politics as a cross between 'Poly, meaning many, and tics, meaning blood-sucking parasites.'

His biggest applause line; 'If you see a candidate that Washington embraces, run the other way.'

He called for the abolition of two conservative bugaboos – Obamacare and the Common Core education standards.

'Education is too important to be left to bureaucrats in Washington,' said Cruz.

'Besides, we already have a "common core" in this country: It's called the Constitution of the United States.'

Yeah really, it isn’t like the IRS isn’t armed or have warehouses full of ammo. We know they do! Put them on the border, minus their briefcases.

This is our candidate. I will not settle for any other.

We need to start now if we want this guy instead of the establishment pick (Christie Jeb and Portman, oh my).

In answer to my question re. when will he get behind the Fair Tax to him at one of his town hall sessions back in the 90s, Newt Gingrich offered the same suggestion. He said these 100,000 IRS hacks should be given weapons (obozo has since heavily armed them) and sent to the border.

20 YEARS LATER We STILL suffer under this insane and abusive system.

Perhaps this time...?

While we’re at it, we can also abolish the Department of Education, Energy and Commerce and move their paper pushers to processing the backlog of those who have applied to become LEGAL immigrants (currently waiting for YEARS ).

Half of them would probably be sent back too.

One of the positive things about Gov Perry’s inability to identify all of the Government agencies he wanted to abolish if he became President is that he was able to reserve an open slot for the IRS.

If he takes the proper action to secure our Southern border, he may just get a shot to remedy that when he is elected President in 2016

Ted, what could possibly go wrong?

Cute line, but it’s just that. Nothing more. Meanwhile I was not pleased by his joining Beck’s panderfest yesterday.

If the IRS is abolished how will congresspeople give loopholes that their “friends” bribed them for?

“His biggest applause line; ‘If you see a candidate that
Washington embraces, run the other way’.”

For a time I thought no matter who ends up the GOP choice,
if that person is elected then Trey Gowdy is the logical
choice for Attorney General. But the more I look at the
field I see no potential candidate that can do as good of
a job at POTUS as Gowdy can at AG. Therefore, I am prone
to pass on Gowdy as AG and just go ahead and support him
for president. Think the Washington establishment supports
Trey? I think not!

I’m not convinced on the fair tax.

Simpler yes, but it’s sold on some premises that do not met the sanity test.

You can’t and should not assume a 100% consumer economy... meaning you can’t assume all income translates to consumer expenditures.

Secondly, I don’t like how they handle business taxes.

Thirdly, equating revenue only misses the point. Where is the analysis of tax burden versus economic growth? We should not assume that the current revenue levels are acceptable. The truth could be that they are sustainable, but I don’t see analysis that shows it. They could be ok. They could be too high. They could be to low.

I prefer a system that acknowledges that corporations don’t pay taxes, their customers do...

Why not eliminate individual income tax altogether, and tax corporations? Similar, but not the same. Two stage tax... revenues and profits, and it need not be 23%.

We can do better.

...shutter the much-maligned Internal Revenue Service and turn the agency's 110,000 employees loose to police the U.S.-Mexico border.

I like it. Call them the External Revenue Service. Restrict them to a "border zone". Make them live off that land. Allow them to use captured illegal aliens as laborers in the border zone to pay off their invasion fine and transportation fees before returning them to their own country. And don't allow them out of the border zone until their personal returned/not captured illegal alien ratio meets a particular threshold.

Those "agents" convicted by local citizens courts of abusing the system will immediately lose their citizenship and be sentenced to the same labor gangs under illegal alien work terms with the opportunity of earning their release to the third world hell-hole of the court's choice.

Because all this will do is raise prices — the corporations will just pass the cost on to the customer.
Moreover, this would cement the 501C stranglehold, marrying the government to non-profits and churches.

We can do better.

Aye, we can.
It's called a flat-rate tax on personal income; no exemptions, no credits, no breaks, no exceptions.
This has the added benefit of eliminating [most] incentive for the 501C stranglehold on religious orgs. (Granted, the biggest reason [that those in power are disinclined to surrender it] is still in play — but that is true regardless.)
