Jobs always insisted that most of the functions on the iPhone be operated by one hand; as such, note that on the iPhone 5/5C/5S models (the last iPhone models Jobs had direct design input before his passing in October 2011), the width of the iPhone stayed the same as the iPhone 4/4S models because of the need for easy one hand operation. Once Jobs passed from the scene, that mantra no longer applied, and as such when the upcoming iPhone models were designed, note larger screen sizes--4.7" and 5.5" based on the hardware leaks coming out of Apple's Chinese suppliers.
I myself want to get the new 4.7" iPhone with 64 GB of storage so I could replace both the current cellphone and my iPod touch at the same time.
I like being able to use my phone with one hand, and be able to slip it into my jeans pocket.
If they keep making them bigger, we’re going to end up like those guys who used carry massive boom boxes on their shoulders and you’ll need four hands to operate it.
I was getting ready to buy a new iPad. Not now. Like you I will combine the two.
