Good morning!

Deja vu! What a run of airline incidents! Bloomy flying into Israel...tempting fate.

Meanwhile we are affected by the Big Bird Bread recall. Listeria. Mrs p6 ate a couple of sandwiches. On KDKA TV right now GE claims it is not a health risk. The woman anchor says she and her family ate a lot over the weekend. We shall see what happens.

Well not me. I seem to be having an eye problem. Blood in my right eye like something broke. Both are sore so I’m trying not to touch them. Probably OK, maybe blood pressure is up. Well with the freeking commies, BO and what’s going on in the world ....

Oh yeah and Pittsburgh is rated the 2nd unhappiest place in the US right behind NYC.

Do you have the Schwebel’s bread with the “A” code?

I checked mine and it had a different letter code—have been eating from it all week but so far so good. Kind of unsettling, though.

Hope your eye is ok. Sometimes those blood vessels break and there is nothing you can do but wait it out.

Yeah, we had both Schwebel AND Big Bird Potato Bread with the letter A. We ate (mostly hubby) 1.5 loaves of Schwebel and part of the Big Bird loaf. I know I had at least 2 sandwiches.

Guess I need to make my own bread.....

Yup our bread has the exact code. Almost made 2 grandkids peanut butter and jelly sandwiches Monday but made chicken fingers instead. Good thing.

Going to bake our own bread today and tomorrow.

We bake a lot of our own bread, especially in a bread machine. It was unusual that we bought a loaf. Probably wouldn’t be serious for healthy adults but mrs p6 and I are not exactly in perfect shape. Listeria can be very serious for kids. Must have been Divine Intervention I didn’t give any bread to the grand kids!

I blame WPGB for a lot of the local unhappiness!

I had to hide our bread machine. The bread was soooo good we were turning into giant loaves of bread.

“Our bitter clinger heritage.”

Wins the thread today!

Listeria is scary, we had GE plain bagels, GE potato bread. DH eats Bimbo wheat white. My “kids” at home are rreally grown men (20 and 17). 20 yr old was tired from his grounds keeping job, had already eaten 2 bagels from that bag, and was like “oh well” I’m starving.

As for me, headache and upset stomach today (but I’m guessing it was over ripe-yet delicious—blueberries.

I “may” be placing Edgar Snyder on speed dial though...

I use my bread machine at least once a week. Got to make bread today in fact. I just bought a loaf of white bread (Wonderbread, from Walmart) to make mountain pies. First loaf of bread I’ve bought in about a year.

Off today and tomorrow. Only vacation I’ll have until October. I’ll be taking off several days in the next four weeks to babysit while DIL trains for her new job.

I guess we're saf(er). We freeze whatever we buy, then thaw it for use, and we don't eat white bread. Usually multi-grain or wheat. As to blueberries, did you buy them or get them off a bush?

I really need to get a bread machine. Hubby is the bread maker in the family. He makes a great potato bread. We’ll have to start doing that again.
Enjoy your vacation! Tomorrow is my last day at “Big Pittsburgh Bank” (after 14 years) - I will be off for two weeks and I start a new job Aug 11th.
I’m headed to Delaware w/Mom to help my sister (she has to go out of town). Its fun to help family. I’m the Auntie M supreme :)

Splurged on the blueberries at Wally World during last weeks shopping. The little town near us does a farmers market, and I usually go there but our gardener next door neighbor has given us zucchini and leaf lettuce (w/Tomatos to come) so I didn’t go to the FM.

Everyone here, who ate the “A” code baked goodies from GE are all ok.

Thanks for the link. Let the screams of coal and Marcellus shale are “evil” begin. Our Twp Commissioners voted to allow fracking under Twp Parks (well pads on private land). So many JOBS being created. My youngest is looking at colleges. He is very seriously considering WCCC as they have a certificate program for Oil Field Service. CC tuition is low (and many of the drilling companies will reimburse education costs). So no student debt, and a really good paying job BEFORE 20th BDay. He is very seriously considering doing that.
