Most elites think it’s a joke, but a sizable and growing number of Americans think President Obama should be impeached, and early this morning Sarah Palin took to her Facebook page this morning to make the case again:

Keep at it.

I saw a post this morning, and I think I agree with it.

The post said impeachment isn't an option before the next election. I completely agree. But the topic is, and we should keep it in play.

Just saying.

I agree. It’s not the best choice before the option but it should be kept in play. After the election, I say remove his sorry ass. The only problem is senators like mcLame and Lindsey will not support impeachment so the repubs still wouldn’t have the majority to remove Obama’s sorry ass.

“I” cannot happen fast enough - I know he will not be removed since the Senate has turned itself over to Article 2 of the Constitution and is no longer a co-equal branch. BUT do it if for no other reason than to put it in the history books AND to draw attention in the media to his “CRIMES” against WE THE PEOPLE.

Exactly. Meanwhile, Obama converts the impeachment idea into a real and immediate threat against him, and reportedly uses it to cash in. The DNC bank is 2 to 1 better off than the RNC, so far.

I have two thoughts on Impeachment:

Impeachment has nothing to do with justice, it is about politics. Although the process of impeachment follows some judicial processes and proceedures, it falls entirely outside the judicial system. Politicians serve as investigators, prosecutors, and jury. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court presides over the trial, but plays no meaningful role. Therefore, impeachment is a political act and should never be undertaken unless there is the political will to carry it out and wide public support in favor. If you impeach but do not convict, the accused emerges stronger than before (see impeachment of Bill Clinton).

I also believe that Obama understands this and is goading the Republicans into an impeachment trap. He knows that he cannot be convicted by the Senate even if the Republicans take control next January. He also knows that impeachment is the only thing that can restore the power and support that he has twitted away. He will emerge stronger, he will leverage the chaos that results to push his agenda even further, and he will claim that the failure to convict him on the articles of impeachment validates the legitimacy of his failed policies. It is the only way, for example, for amnesty to succeed.

He and his sycophants are fueling the fires, taunting the crowds, and raising the level of outrageous illegal behavior by this government in order to get what he wants: impeachment. Sarah Palin is acting as an enabler. We shouldn’t take the bait.

I disagree with you.

I feel the GOP is completely out to lunch.

Palin is virtually alone, in standing for something.

Go Sarah.

IMPEACHMENT IS THE ONLY LEGAL WAY OF REMOVING A DICKTATOR.

IF Impeachment for this criminal is off the table then I would suggest to you that we are living under tyranny and the US Constitution has been disappeared by these Chicago thugs. In order to preserve our form of Government he must be impeached even if not removed.

Otherwise you are saying IMEACHMENT is no longer an option which concludes we are NO LONGER A CONSITUTIONAL REPUBLIC AND WILL BE FOREVER SUBSERVIENT TO RAT CONTROL.

I beg to differ. The Impeachment is a legal remedy to usurpation of power. The only tool the Constitution provided to us. The tool we must use to keep our Constitutional Republic.

We don't do Kings in America. If Republicans do nothing there will be little reason to vote for them. If they introduce articles of impeachment tomorrow and make the case they will do better in the election.

I will not surrender.

Making irrational and emotional comments in all caps does not improve the message.

My point is that impeachment only works if you can actually carry it through to a successful conclusion. If we could do so, we should certainly do it. But, anyone who thinks that this can possibly succeed is dreaming. It cannot happen in present circumstances. The Constitutional remedy that remains is the ballot box. Those who are appalled by the criminal behavior of this Administration should do whatever it takes to see that Democrats in both the House and Senate are defeated so that Obama can be stymied by the legislature. Lawsuits need to flood the courts to destroy any chance of his illegal acts being deemed proper.

You can criticize those courses of action as impossible, but they stand a much better chance of succeeding than some half baked impeachment action that will die in the Senate. Impeachment is some pie in the sky get out of jail free card that does not presently exist. All those who voted for Obama, or failed to vote should be mindful of the consequences of their actions.

They both fund our enemies, so I don't see that as a problem. Conservatives will give to candidates directly.

The RNC has only itself to blame for that. I don't give RNC a plug nickel. I do give directly to candidates that I like, though.

Talking about impeachment now is counterproductive for conservatives. That’s why you’re hearing about it from people inside the administration. If you want the low info Dem voters out in force this fall then keep on talking about impeachment

The process of impeachment that the Constitution provided was made intentionally the province of elected officials. We have no Tribunals or Nuremberg Trials in our system. The flaw in the Constitution was that the founders did not envision political parties. They believed that the common interests of the people to preserve law and order and our system of government would inspire the Congress to act against any Tyrant who managed to rise to the office of President. They could not imagine that corrupt politicians would band together in a political party that was willing to do anything to preserve their power and impose their will upon the country.

We must find a way to stop this, but right now impeachment is the wrong tool and one that, if used, will have the opposite effect of what we intend.

I agree with Palin. Chronic disregard for the law, and dereliction of duty is grounds for impeachment.

Threatening impeachment is OK. I’m agains’t doing it right now because in 6 mos or so things will be so bad we can probably just skip to remove and incarcerate.

True, but this is a backing off of her original impeachment case…..which did NOT say it must happen after the upcoming election.

I agree with this position.
