First-round Buffalo Bills bids top $1 billion

A Pennsylvania fracking mogul bid more than $1 billion for the Buffalo Bills on Tuesday — making it likely the team will attract a record sales price for an NFL team, The Post has learned.

Terrence Pegula, who owns the NHL Buffalo Sabres, is one of only two known bidders for the storied football franchise, which was put on the block last spring following the March 25 death of owner Ralph Wilson Jr..

Donald Trump also made a first-round bid for the Bills — bids were due by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

It could not be learned whether other bids were received by banker Morgan Stanley, which is running the auction.

A bidding group fronted by rocker Jon Bon Jovi that includes Larry Tanenbaum, chairman of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, owner of the NBA Toronto Raptors and the NHL Maple Leafs, and the Canadian telecom titan Rogers family, which controls Rogers Communications, was expected to bid.

Pegula vs. Trump. Who wants it more and who will overpay the most?

I heard the Bills could move out of Buffalo. I heard that they don’t have a long term lease, and that they had been seeking a new stadium.

And, new owners without ties to Buffalo could end up moving the Bills.

At least that’s what I heard.

I hope they stay put. I don’t like to see teams move to other cities.

If a lousy basketball team is worth $2 billion, any NFL team not called the Browns should be worth $3 billion.

Trump has already said he doesn’t think his will be the winning bid.

Cleveland might be interested in having an NFL team.

Well (imo) if Pegula wins, they're not going anywhere. If Trump wins they're going to LA. If Bon Jovi wins, they're going to Canada.

Pegula has some deep pockets. He financed the new PSU hockey arena (and the program, basically).

I knew he wasn't serious when Trump hinted that would try to hire Weird Al Yankovic as head coach.

You should have an exciting year. The browns drafted well. I hope they don’t throw Manziel out there until week 4. Steelers would tee off on him game 1 and then game 3 you get the Ravens. It’s a tough division to enter as a skinny rookie.

Let’s face it, Browns stadium has to be built on an old Indian burial ground ... no matter how well the Browns select players, they will never win.

Tear down the current stadium and put up some totem poles and rebuild the arena someplace else and maybe, just maybe. LOL!

You may be right, but stadium money is tight when you already have a team. But you’re still in for a sports adventure. Once the PC nazis finish tormenting the Redskins, you know they’re coming after Chief Wahoo.

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome your Toronto Socialist Canadian Values Rainbow Coalition, the first all-gay non-gender-specific team in the NFL, as well as being qualified climate scientists and wiccan theologians. Don’t hurt us, just give us what we are entitled to claim — respectable scores that hold out every promise of victory in the not too distant future, if the other teams back off and give us a fair chance.

What I said was meant as a joke, but there might be some validity to it. Who knows?

As for Chief Wahoo, the world can kiss his wahoo, he ain’t going anywhere.

By the way, I might live in Cleveland and like my Browns, BUT, I am a Bears fan through and through. Just say’n
