I’m in China right now. I do 4-5 trips a year and no matter what part I’m in north or south the changing landscape is amazing. The number of high end vehicles puts Beverly Hills to shame. The Beijing airport will probably surpass my airport in Atlanta as the worlds busiest in 18-24 months. You don’t see people sitting around they work whether is person with a broom sweeping sidewalks or a corp president. As for the trains they are incredible and work.

“The number of high end vehicles puts Beverly Hills to shame. “

But, but, but, EVERY TIME I note that China is KICKING OUR ASS and is about (or maybe is) the world’s economic leader, and will be TWICE the size of our economy within a decade, I get impugned by people INSISTING that it’s all show.

Well, maybe some of it, but the Chinese are paying for those (imported) cars with REAL MONEY (along with imported raw materials), and they sure seem to have a LOT of it.

My niece told me that they have people whose job is to sweep the city clean all day long. The little kids who she was teaching had the habit of not picking up after themselves because they are used to having someone else do it for them.

In California we have imports from south of the border who likewise do not pick up after themselves. But in their case it’s because they couldn’t care less if the streets are filled with litter and trash and dirty diapers. Third world habits. Coming your way real soon, courtesy of Obama and the GOPe.
