Yup.

Ollie was trip.

His best movie, IMO, was “The Devils”.

Hard to find, very intense and disturbing, historically based and worth the search.

[and OMG is he freaking gorgeous]

He died during Gladiator after drinking a rugby team under the table an then kicking their asses.

Well played, Ollie.

Well played.

He died as he had lived.

Moody blues did a very long live version of “Nights in White Satin”

I remember because my date made a comment it seemed as long as “In A Gadda De Vida”

Why were those two concerts awful?

I just was looking at my iPod.

The other record album I had that got me through the bad adolescent times was Lou Reed’s “Berlin”

That is still on my top five.

Yeah, I read about him a little after that and how he died! It was an amazing amount of liquor he consumed. And I watched some of his appearances on the chat shows after that.

I think you indicated you saw it, but here it is if anyone else is interested. Too funny. I like Shelly Winters, too. Another character.

Nope.

I was an “egg head” who got ostracized for being “too smart” and I retreated to the art department for the last year and half, after finishing my required courses early.

A little, spooky weirdo who spent most of her time creating bizarre photographs in the dark room.

So, really, I’ve not changed much.

:D

[I read Poe, Bradbury and Lovecraft]

That's one of theirs that I know and really enjoy. Used to love when they played the extended version on the radio.

Air Supply was cheesy. Most of the people there were women in their 40s and 50s. Not cool when you are in your early twenties.

As for the Dead, just too many hippies, everyone rushed down to the stage, (it was at Giants Stadium, so they left their seats to get closer) , and I swear the whole place smelled like pot. And I only j knew one song by the band, and they didn’t do of for some reason. (Truckin)

Yup, they’re doing a double bill.

Wish he’d stop that new trend, soon.

I do not want to be in a crowd of Crue/Manson/Zombie fans.

A friend recently went and said a guy OD’ed on heroin right beside him.

Screw that.

Works for me.

Our powers separate at the continental conversational divide. :)

I remember a little bit of Air Supply...Lost in Love, I think, was one of theirs. I can see how they would appeal to the older set. Don’t really know the Grateful Dead, but don’t think they would be my cup of tea at all.

“I remember because my date made a comment it seemed as long as “In A Gadda De Vida”

I took my then 15 year old daughter to see RUSH last year. After the first three songs she exclaimed “Those three songs were as long as XYZ’s first half of their entire concert!” (She stayed standing the entire 3+ hours too!)

Found your Devils:

The Devils (1971)
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0066993/?ref_=fn_al_tt_2

In 17th-century France, Father Urbain Grandier seeks to protect the city of Loudun from the corrupt establishment of Cardinal Richelieu. Hysteria occurs within the city when he is accused of witchcraft by a sexually repressed nun.

Poe is good. I do like his poems, memorized “The Raven”, and “Annabelle Lee”. Other than the “Cask of Amontillado” I prefer his poems to his short stories.

I discovered Bradbury I. 6th grade. I found a copy of “R is for Rocket”, and spent that summer in the library, reading everything by him.

Never a fan of Lovecraft, but his short story “Cool Air” is phenomenal

Had a double major in English, but I was able to do a lot with it.

Video from Rush’s first MTV video, “Distant Early Warning”.

I’m sure glad they put all of there recent concerts out on DVD now - their MTV videos are pretty lame.

Salamander, I meant to post this thread and hit the hay soon after...lol. That didn’t quite work out, but it has been **incredibly** fun staying up and chatting with you. Hope you have a great rest of your day...
