New federal law puts restrictions on bake sale items

Bake sales used to fuel school's sports teams and clubs, raising money for the kids going away games, nicer uniforms, field trips and so on. But, a new law limits the amount of sugary treats that many bake sales offer. So, starting this Fall bake sales won't be as sweet anymore.

Parents are allowed to sell candy and goodies, but it must meet the smart snack calculator requirement. If it meets all the nutritional requirements, the calories, sugar, fat and sodium, it's ok to sell that cookie. But, if it goes over well it's not allowed and the schools can be fined.

"The Smart Snacks in School Nutrition Program" took effect July 1, it's part of Michelle Obama's 2010 Healthy Hungry Free Kids Act.

Also, in the state of Texas no fried foods are allowed in schools. So, if a parent brings let's say brings a deep fried donut to a bake sale, you can't sell it. The law also states that bake sales can not take place in the same area food is being served or purchased. A table must be set up outside of the lunch area. And a bake sale can't take place until 30 minutes after school gets out.

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

I don't see a penumbra of a "smart snack calculator" in there.

But anal sex is still taught in sex class as a normal alternative, right? I mean, it’s not unhealthy, like a donut, right?

This, and all the other impositions on public schools are based solely on their being piggybacked on the school lunch program. And more and more, school districts are finding out that if they can pay for their own school lunches, they can *save* money spent on complying with hundreds of federal demands.

Imagine the glee over not having to submit dozens of weekly reports to bureaucrats. And monthly reports. And not having student learning time consumed with a endless psychological and social surveys. And not having to teach political correct subjects. etc., etc., ad nauseum.

Instead the schools missions return to educating students, instead of feeding bureaucrats.

"“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

Thank goodness there are no more problems in the country and around the world. Now the feds can tackle the really important issues like bake sales in pubic schools.
