GENEVA/FREETOWN (Reuters) - Liberia, the country worst hit by West Africa's Ebola epidemic, should see thousands of new cases in coming weeks as the virus spreads exponentially, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday.

The WHO believes it will take six to nine months to contain and may infect up to 20,000 people.

From hundreds of cases to multiple thousands. And the CDC has admitted it can spread through the air or by touching contaminated surfaces.

Time to in-house quarantine. Only people allowed out of their homes are Ebola-negative or immune in former personal protective gear.

The right to travel freely doesn’t do you any good if it kills you or someone else (or many other someones).

I am keeping a close eye, the first case in my state will have me staying home for the next week or two after that time if no more cases I lift Quarantine, if more cases, I stay inside...

I’m thinking that Obama will next want to bring ten or twelve thousand here. As a humanitarian gesture.

Africa is to Europe what Mexico is to the US

I wonder how long before this shows up the EU?

It certainly appears that this virus has mutated and is now easier to catch but has not lost it lethality as other outbreaks have died out quickly.

The fact that this outbreak has gone on this long is really scary. There has not been a major pandemic in my lifetime. The suffering is horrible but there is a certain morbid fascination in watching this spread

And also by people on airplanes. So why aren’t people demanding a halt to international air traffic and a halt to international shipping?

6 to 9 months...

It will either peter out and disappear very soon or will ravage Africa for years to come. That is what I understand from these official estimates. They are worth nothing at all.

Quarantine Africa. The southern 2/3 of the continent should have been walled off 50 years ago.

Ditto but for a lake cottage we have some distance outside of town. It is stocked. We go in and close the door and when Ebola is gone we exit carefully.

We must share each other’s burden, don’t you know?

It’s not fair that ebola occurs only in W. Africa.

It will peter out and then slumber for a few years, until it reappears...

If a Moslem population gets infected watch for shiploads and planeloads of refugees to be recruited and brought to America.

I have to say that if I was a nurse or a doctor I wouldn’t want to be treating them.

I would just quarantine the area, air drop saline solution and instructions and food and let them be.

I have treated dogs with saline subcutaneously and it is fairly simple you don’t have to administer it in an IV.

Never saw that before. Since lice do not respirate as mammals do, I find this very hard to believe.

Can you please give us a source.

I still say that an infected jihadi will strap a bomb to his body, go to a crowded area and aerosolize himself. On the news that night, it will just be a suicide bomb.

About a month later, all of the "survivors" in the crowd will die. And eventually, so will anyone they infect in the meantime.
