Just read it.
I’d say a well placed 30:06 bullet is humane and though they said the bear was probably tracking the dogs it didn’t attack them, it attacked the woman.
Should be a sure death sentence for the bear but this is touchy feely California F & G, they’ve certainly changed since I lived there.

I was born and raised there. So glad I left that hellhole more than two decades ago.
