According to Virginia State Police, Jesse Matthew, the man facing abduction with intent to defile charges in connection with the Hannah Graham case, has been linked to another high profile disappearance.
Police confirm that forensic evidence links Matthew to the Harrington case. Harrington, a Virginia Tech student at the time, was abducted and murdered in Charlottesville in 2009 after leaving a Metallica concert at John Paul Jones Arena.
DNA evidence was collected from the site where Harrington's remains were found on Anchorage Farm in Albemarle County three months after her disappearance. State police have said there is a link between Harrington's case and a 2005 Fairfax City sexual assault. Police have not released whether Matthew is connected to the Fairfax case.

Really? Exactly what would be the point? They have forensic evidence that this guy was involved and did nothing so he could do it again? Now they got this scumbag and are acting like they can't get the information of where his latest victim is? okay...I got a great idea...lets all wear orange ribbons to a football game to make ourselves feel better.
Another good source. Thanks.
Not to be critical but I think perhaps you misunderstood what they are saying. I think when they searched his apartment after this latest event they found forensic evidence that linked to him the previous murder. They didn’t have it until now. I share your disappointment that the area has had to be exposed to this killer or killers for so many years with no arrests.
They had the DNA, they just didn't have a name and a face of who it belonged to until now.
They probably had Matthew’s DNA since 2009, derived from the seen of Harrington’s dumped body, but THEY HAD NO IDEA WHOSE DNA IT WAS UNTIL NOW.
They probably checked Matthew’s hair or saliva from a cup from his house or car and it matched to DNA in the Harrington murder.
I am sure they were happy to link this DNA. Could be an answer to the other missing girls. Not to mention that if they can’t find Hannah, they will probably offer this scum a deal to give up info on her and others missing.
“They had the DNA, they just didn’t have a name and a face of who it belonged to until now.”
I have to disagree. For years, police have had the face from the Fairfax rape case. They knew it was connected by DNA to the Harrington murder. Since then police have had mugshots of Jesse L. Matthew, Jr. from his repeated arrests, including for trespassing and assault. Given the ultra-high profile of the Harrington case, why in hell weren’t they checking every new arrestee for a match to that drawing, and following up any likelies with DNA tests? It is a dead ringer for Matthew. The lapse here is unforgivable.
If it doesn’t exist (though I an sure it does), someone needs to develop software to do biometric analysis on digitized mugshots and sketches of suspects, then match them. I am no computer whiz, but this seems doable, and should pay for itself in easy crime solving and prevention.
Fox News is about to talk about this case and the forensic link after the break, just announced.
Fill me in on what was said. I just turned to that channel, and they are on commercial break, so I think I just missed that segment.
They summed up the fact that the police are following up on the (unverified, officially) link to a previous unsolved murder with a police sketch of the suspect in the old case onscreen next to a pic of the current perp in custody.
Quick segment, not much more new info other than a mention that the police are planning a news conference later (today, I believe).
Thank you. He is a good match for the old perp. I’m hoping they’ve got their man for all of the cases.
So I caught a bit of Fox just now and they are saying that it is a DNA link from Jesse Matthew to the other two cases. I don’t know if they slipped up, but they didn’t just use the word “forensic” evidence, they said “DNA” evidence.
They should ‘water’ board him in the piss of his prison inmates.
