Very unlikely. In fact, Forrest himself said he took 47 of his own slaves into the army, promising them freedom at the end of the war.

Black soldiers fought alongside white soldiers in Forrest’s command. They had the highest respect for him, before, during, and after the war. There were as many black men at his funeral as there was whites.
